Could someone explain to me the presence of a closed lock surrounded by an arrow just next to the battery percentage on my iPhone?

There are no issues with functionality, but it still intrigues me.

What do you say, doctor(s)? How does it work?

It's the screen rotation that is locked; you need to double-click the home button, press the first icon in the bottom left, and it will be fine.

I have to disagree with you because the sound is activated all the time. But thanks anyway for your help.

I've had this iPhone since April and that closed lock with an arrow appeared this weekend.

Could it be related to the fact that I plugged it into a different PC than mine that I've authorized (out of the 5 allowed by Apple) or is it completely unrelated?

no, that means that landscape mode is disabled, you can't turn your iPod horizontally to disable it, you click twice on the main button (multitasking) and then you scroll from LEFT TO RIGHT.
