Hello everyone,
I just acquired an Acer Aspire 5740G laptop.
The "issue" is that when I plug or unplug the power supply from the computer, a buzzer goes off. The beep is at a pretty high volume and when someone is sleeping, it's not cool to hear that noise.
I wanted to know what means are available to remove this beep.
I've already checked the BIOS but there's nothing related to that. At least from what I've seen.
So, if someone can shed some light on this ;)
Thank you very much :)
Configuration: Windows 7 / Internet Explorer 8.0

Hello everyone,
I've been searching for several days by testing each function! It's been really frustrating...
I think I found it...
Under Windows 7, Acer 7750G:
- Right-click on the sound icon at the bottom right, near the clock,
- Select "Sounds",
- Choose the "Playback" tab,
- Double-click on "Speakers",
- Select the "Levels" tab,
- In the "PC Beep" section, click on the speaker icon to disable it!
Click OK and give it a try!
Let me know if it works for you too!!!!

Hello
It is very simple to disable them. To do this, edit the registry:
Start / Run / "regedit"
Navigate to the following key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Sound
You can disable the system beeps by creating a new string value named Beep and setting its value to No!

I might have a solution to your problem:
Before plugging in or unplugging, mute the sound by pressing: Fn + F8
and unmute it with the same keys once you're done.
It's not very convenient, but it's all I've found for now :)

Hello
if there is a small PAFLE (Speaker) then you need to remove it from your motherboard (because it is not integrated into this motherboard)

In other words, is there no way to disable it?
Do I have to remove it physically (which I won't do)?

Hi,
generally this beep is essential in case of problems in the configuration of your motherboard (badly connected or defective RAM, failure of your processor, etc.). In these cases, the BIOS detects the problem and generates a series of beeps (long beep followed by short beep) to check if the RAM is in good condition or the processor, etc.
but for the deactivation... I don't know... sorry.

Well, I don't really know how to help you, I'm not very knowledgeable, but I know that on mine it works when you turn off the sound.
Sorry.
Sorry.
Re: Hello, do you have an Acer? On Acer devices, this technique doesn't work; on Acer devices, there's only one technique: mute the sound!!
I'm sorry.
Hoping I've shed some light for you.

Awesome Franz, it works with Vista too!
I also have an Acer, and that beep had been annoying me for a while as I was looking for how to disable it, until I stumbled upon this forum today.
Thank you very much!

Hello Photisma,
You're welcome: It's a pleasure to help!
I still have the beep when I turn off the PC and cut the power during the shutdown phase; but it's quite bearable compared to the constant beeps at every connection or disconnection of the power supply!
It's specific to Acer, I suppose...?

Hello,
For those who have Windows 7, I found a very simple solution: uninstall the "Realtek" driver and let Windows 7 find a standard driver (sound hd something). It worked for me; maybe it will work for others.
Best regards,

Hello, I have an Acer Aspire 7740G and I have tried all the techniques mentioned in this topic, but I can't disable this beep... Even going into the BIOS settings! I've searched everywhere, but no luck, and if I uninstall the Realtek driver, I'm afraid it will mess everything up...
Good evening Max,
Have you tried the technique I shared in July?

- Select "Sounds",
- Choose the "Playback" tab,
- Double-click on "Speakers",
- Select the "Levels" tab,
- In the "PC Beep" section, click on the speaker icon to disable it!

It's easy to do, but it's still pretty well hidden...
Packard Bell Easy Note TS
And it works!
Thank you very much.
In any case, it's good if it works for you too and thanks for the feedback!
