Unsupported HD format video

Question

Hello,

I just bought a television with built-in HDMI TNT, and I searched for channels, but I only receive 6 TNT channels (R2). I picked up TFI HD, France 2 HD, M6 HD (R5) but as soon as I try to watch them, a message appears indicating that the video format is not supported???? so I can't watch them.
What can I do to receive them, and normally we should receive 18 channels with TNT, so why doesn't my television pick them up? The antenna is collective and has been adapted for digital.

Hi everyone,

we also bought a built-in HD ready TNT television.
we perfectly receive all the TNT channels as well as the latest ones (6ter, découvertes, chérie25, etc....) but this message appears as soon as we request any image: "unsupported video format."
what can we do to solve this problem, and is there a solution other than changing the television, buying an HD TNT decoder, or is a technician's adjustment sufficient?

Hello
you say "integrated HDMI TNT television"
does that mean your TV receives TNT but HD? In all that, a TNT TV can receive SD (mp2) which means a bitrate, an excellent quality but lower than HD, for that your TV must be equipped with an MP4 decoder.
Your TV, whatever its TNT equipment (mp2), can pick up the channels of HD programs
BUT IT CANNOT DECODE THEM SO CANNOT DISPLAY THEM!
So make sure with your manual that your TV is indeed FULL HD (mp2+mp4) otherwise you got sold a dud that should no longer be on sale unless under special specification and "sales" mandates. If you want to keep it, you'll need to buy an external HD decoder (starting price around €50)

Note: HDMI is a digital connector that allows you to connect a (non-HD) TV to an external HD decoder or an HD source like a Blu-ray player or a PS3 console or an HD box from an ISP (Free SFR or Orange)

To respond to Alize:
The causes of poor reception of digital terrestrial television (DTT) can be multiple. It is not possible to make a diagnosis remotely. DTT HD is not optimal everywhere. Consult an antenna technician.

Regarding televisions referred to as "Full HD," there is still the greatest confusion.
Let us first distinguish 3 categories:
1 - TV broadcasts in HD
2 - Video and video games
3 - TV screens

1 - HD TV broadcasts in Europe are available in 2 standards: 1080i (1920x1080 interlaced mode) and 720p (1280x720 progressive mode) at 50Hz (25i/s). An interlaced image composed of 2 fields is referred to as 1080i50 and a progressive image being whole is referred to as 720p25. An image in 1080i50 represents: 1920 x 1080 = 2,073,600 pixels. A TV* image in PAL (SD) represents: 768 x 576 = 442,368 pixels. Therefore, there are nearly 5 times more pixels in HD than in SD, resulting in better image quality. French channels have opted for 1080i50, which is the most versatile of the HD modes.

2 - In video, in the consumer area, the progressive mode is the most commonly used. (1080p, 1080i, 720p) However, in the professional sector, the interlaced mode (more fluid) is used under the HDV format (1080i). As for video games, only the progressive mode is used with a wide range of resolutions.

3 - A TV screen must meet all needs (TV, video, games, ...), meaning it should be able to display an image in both interlaced and progressive mode. The old terms Full HD and HD ready created confusion with HD resolutions, while that only concerns the display of a screen. Let us take 2 examples:
with a video game: depending on the quality of the so-called Full HD television, the image will be resized for display at 1920x1080 by using the previous and next images to add additional details or frame by frame without additional detail.
With an HD ready screen: the display of a TV broadcast in 1080i50 will be resized to 1366 x 768.

* TV PAL resolution = 768x576, PAL video resolution = 720x576

Today, all televisions released on the market (in France) have a resolution of 1920x1080 (e.g. Full HD)

HDMI: (High Definition Multimedia Interface) encompasses several technologies. The 100% digital connection is without compression and without conversion. Audio and video signals (SD or HD) are transmitted without alteration or loss. This connection allows for connecting computers, HD TV screens, Blu-ray players, MPEG4 compatible digital decoders, home cinema devices, and some other devices.

Hello,
I’m adding myself to the list...
As the owner of a Proline LED TV, we installed a rooftop antenna for the transition to HD TNT (we previously had TNT satellite with an external decoder). We set up the channels and had no issues!
Now, I saw that I could record... so I tried it with an external hard drive and an empty 16 GB USB stick, and each time, I get the same error message "file not supported"
Having had a decoder before, I didn’t test it, but now... I suspect that the HD update may have rendered the file created with the recording incompatible? What do you think?
Have you experienced this before?
