Broken circumflex accent

Question

Good evening!

I have a problem: the circumflex accent and the "tilde" are not working anymore. It's not the key that's dirty, because it's not dirty (great answer..).

So if someone has a solution, thank you for replying to me :)

P.S: I know, there's the key 9, but it's very inconvenient in an MMORPG to do a lot :/

Hello,  Have you rebooted? That's what I did the 2 times when some keys were acting up. (They weren't the same ones) And it worked again!

I'm posting 4 years later, but I found this just in case others stumble upon this forum.

I ran a Hijackthis report and analyzed it on www.hijackthis.de, and everything is okay!

I reinstalled the keyboard with the regional option and still nothing.

Then I thought it's a process that's messing up.

I stopped each process I didn't recognize, testing on Notepad for example if the ^ ~ ` keys work.

And I realized it's a utility from Asus that's causing the issue (provided with the motherboard). It's called "splendid.exe". I stopped it, and everything works.

Well, I come 9 months after ahmet0851, who helped me find the problem.

It was due to a process: NumCapsScrollIndicator (software that visually displays the status of the NumLock key, Caps Lock key, and Scroll Lock key with 3 indicators); when the keyboard does not have an indicator, it is very useful.

However, by reactivating it and unchecking its Sound Indicator function, the keyboard becomes normal again while still benefiting from this service.

Same for me... I had erratic behavior from my circumflex accent (sometimes it worked - rarely - often not!).
No way to blink (^^).

So I did like you, I followed your advice and started closing tasks one by one and there; surprise! It was Chrome causing the mess...

I found a "chrome.exe" that showed "a9kywu58yk1" in the description column (all the other tabs show "Google Chrome").

I closed it and... BINGO!

I don't know what it is (can't find it as is on Google) but every time I launch Chrome it reappears (with the other tabs). So I have to close it (kill the task) while making sure to leave my tabs open and... IT WORKS!

A bit of a deal breaker... I'll go back to good old Firefox if the problem persists!

Hello,
Same for me on a DELL XPS 15,
the circumflex accent and diaeresis key stopped working under Windows Seven Family.
I took the key apart, put it back together, nothing worked.
As TamBest said (and a big thank you to you!!), I noticed a strange process displaying "pleindelettresenvrac.exe" in the Image Name column, and "Dorkos" (with an o) in the Description column.
I just killed this process, and HURRAY!! my key works normally again. I'm quite frustrated, as this thing has messed up my life for months...
