Question

Hello,

here is my problem:
when I want to put a circumflex accent on the "e" or when I want to put the two dots on the "i", here is what it shows - ^^ or ¨¨ -
I am not pressing twice on them. A single press gives me what you see above.
I am indeed in azerty mode and in France mode (French).
I tried changing the keyboard but the problem persists.
I thank you for helping me because I do not understand what is happening.

I found the reason why the circumflex accent sometimes changes or not, no matter what,
after spending about an hour, I finally deduced that it is neither a virus nor a driver problem,
it's just that sometimes we accidentally hit the following two keys...

ALT and SHIFT!!!!

Which produces the switch between French keyboards or whatever, give it a try
I have a QWERTY keyboard anyway,
look, if I press (é) then I do the combination of ALT and SHIFT, I press again and it gives me (/)

Otherwise, try with CTRL + SHIFT, depending on the type

And there you go!! No more hassle!!!!

To respond to parisien, I can't type a letter afterwards because when I press the key, two circumflex accents or umlauts appear immediately without the letters (^^ ¨¨).
There are no dumb questions.

I searched through my archives, and it would be either "bugbear" or "badtrans.b"; they hide in System32 and disable your AV. You should run Hijack and an online AV, and make sure to update yours... see you later.

Hello,

To respond to Routier, I have Norton AV (Anti-Virus) 2004 and it is up to date.
I ran a scan and it found nothing. I also did a scan with an online AV and it found nothing either.
As for Hijack, I don't know what that is.
Regarding the "viruses" you mentioned, I even tried to find them by searching my hard drive.
Thank you for your suggestions and if you have any others, feel free to share.

After two months of struggle, facing the same issue with accents, I found the solution: I had installed CAPTSCREEN and it was this software that caused the problem with the accents. I uninstalled it and restarted the computer. Everything went back to normal. So if you have this software and are having problems with accents...

I need help because I can't figure out how to insert a circumflex accent on a capital E A U I O
So I went to start, run and I typed charmap.exe
I got my window with all my characters including the E A U I
When I selected the letter it said to do this
Press alt+0200 for the E with an accent
But when I do that I get no result
I know that I can copy and paste but I don't find that very practical
I would prefer to know how to type it on my keyboard

Hi,  Your problem comes from the G9 + G15 combo. Remove the mouse drivers (setpoint), and it fixes the problem.

I had the same problem and as you can see, it's fixed! Check your processes to see if you have fyof.exe active. If so, end that process and search your computer to find it and rename its extension (I changed it from exe to bkp). If everything works well after a while, you can delete it!

I did this because it slipped past Avira anti-virus (I know, it's free and mediocre but it works just fine for me!)

But if it can help: Facing the same problem, namely when pressing the ^ or ¨ key to get: ê or ë, I had ^^e or even ¨¨e  After reading and trying a bit of everything you wrote, I finally removed from the automatic startup all applications from unknown manufacturers or located in my USER directory.  (Msconfig, Startup tab, and disable everything that seems suspicious; restart). For my part, the process that seems to be the cause = Uxet.exe Good luck!
