Hello, I own a PS3, and when I launch Call Of Duty 6, I get an error code which is "80010514" and I read on several sites that it's the disc that is damaged. However, I only get this error code on Call of Duty 6. I tested it with Little Big Planet, NFS Shift, and plenty of others; it’s only COD 6 that doesn’t work anymore. Should I buy a new one or contact Sony????
The game can only be launched about once every 5 attempts. (The disc is detected, but sometimes the launch gets stuck and displays the error code).
Configuration: Windows 7 / Opera 9.80

I have the same problem with Call of Duty Black Ops error 80010514 while Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3 work fine. I asked a store that does PlayStation repairs, and the problem does not come from the PlayStation but from the game update! Disconnect your PlayStation from the internet and launch the game; it worked for me the first time! And to play online, disconnect your console from the Internet, then reconnect and quickly launch the game. I'm waiting for your responses!

Instead of shaking the PS3, tilt it in all directions, it also works. This error 800 is just a lens misalignment issue, and with this trick, once the game is launched, there will be no more bugs. For those who doubt: I've been doing this with GTA 5 since the day after its release, and every time... Anyway, the PS4 is coming out on November 29 and will be able to read PS3 and PS2 games, so we just have to be patient.
Have fun gaming, everyone!

Hi
I don't know where you read about the lens issue
this error corresponds to corrupted data
during the game installation
delete all COD saves
and reinstall the game

Well, I managed to do it without changing the lens or anything, just by spitting on the lens; maybe it will work for you like it did for me.
Hello,
I may have the solution to this PS3 error 80010514.
It's up to you to try this procedure:
1/ turn on the Playstation 3
2/ go to system settings
3/ go to restore default settings
4/ follow the PS3 system instructions
5/ configure your personal settings
After completing these steps, insert the game that was previously faulty, and it may just start.
It worked for me with FIFA 12 because for a while there was nothing to do; it wouldn't start anymore.
I hope this helps you.

Hello, I also encountered the error 80010514 since I bought FIFA 11; all the other games worked fine except for this one, a total hassle to get it started. I did some research and found a solution to the problem (at least for mine) without data loss or formatting. I don’t guarantee it will work, but for me, it was just a matter of HDD and firmware issues.
Here’s what you need:
- The latest version of your PS3 firmware (currently 3.50) downloadable here: https://www.playstation.com/en-us/support/
- A USB stick
Procedure: Remove the Blu-rays from your console and all accessories that can be connected to the USB port.
1/ We will start by "cleaning" your PS3; turn off the console at the switch for the FAT models and directly at the power source for the Slim models. Once turned off: press and hold the eject button while turning your console back on; no worries, the fans will run at full speed for a while to clean it.
2/ Once finished, the console will go into standby mode. On your USB stick, create a folder named PS3 in uppercase, then inside this folder create another folder named UPDATE, also in uppercase, and place the downloaded update in the UPDATE folder as a .PUP file.
3/ The console is off, in standby; press and hold the ON button on your PS3, 1 beep, 2 beeps, 3 beeps: it will go back to standby.
4/ Repeat the operation, 1 beep, 2 beeps, double beep, connect your PS3 controller as requested with the USB cable.
5/ A menu appears with 6 options, choose 3. Restore file system, then let your console do its thing for a moment, set up your HDMI if needed, then if your console had a problem, it will tell you that your hard drive's file system is damaged and that it will be restored, confirm... restoration is in progress.
6/ Once completed, your console will restart, turn it off, and repeat the 3rd and 4th steps to return to the factory menu with the 6 options.
7/ Once you are in this menu, choose 6. System update
8/ Insert your USB stick containing the firmware, then press START and SELECT at the same time. The system will detect the update, install it, confirm the steps, and validate the installation; installation in progress...
9/ The PS3 restarts, set up your HDMI if needed, you will arrive at the XMB menu, insert your game... It should start; if not, then customer support, or maybe buy a new PS3 ;)
If your problem is resolved, your hard drive has aged, a partition was damaged, and the firmware was partially installed on that partition. Now the HDD has repaired the damaged partition set aside, everything should work.
If you need help, feel free to ask ;)

Hi
I did everything possible with the console without taking it apart.
And nothing works, either:
- it recognizes the disc but does not read it (error 80010514)
- reads the disc but as soon as it starts loading, the console freezes (no error message)
- does not find the disc.
I formatted the console
I did a factory reset
I tried with and without the updates
with or without internet
It doesn't work no matter what game
For me, there’s only one solution: customer service.

Hi,
In your case, there's really a lens issue. It's the end for it.
All the customer service will do is replace the entire interior of your PS3 for the cursed sum of €150 (if the console is no longer under warranty), or you also have the option to replace the optical drive of your PlayStation by yourself.
It's up to you to decide.

I'm in the same situation, Tebesla1. Like you, I've tried everything; in fact, I even took it apart to see if I could spot anything (a quick vacuum for the dust too), but nothing works. I think you're right, Elportugues; it's definitely a hardware problem, although, how can we know… it's still strange that the DVDs spin, for example. If it really is the lens, it shouldn't work… anyway.
ah ok that's good news then
I hope when you cleaned it you didn't blow on it
you'll send dust everywhere inside
a little vacuuming does the trick
it's also advisable to keep it standing up
and if it's in a cabinet, take it out
and avoid having it near other running devices
it will heat up less

For problem 80010514, you just need your console to still be under warranty because there's nothing to do! So, customer service! For those who are no longer under warranty, you need to change the optical block-carriage, etc. You have to be motivated, that's for sure.
Hello!!
There's no need to buy either a Black Ops game or a PS3, there's an error that you get, I have it too and we can do nothing to change it, it's the game itself that's not even compatible with the PS3 Slim. Anyway, I talked to a PS3 seller and he told me that PS3 Slims had a lot of problems and it's not going to get any better with future games like Gran Turismo 5, which won't work on certain PS3s either. Really, Sony is just a bunch of thieves, that's all. I'm fed up with the PS3. P.S.: don't call Sony, it's useless, they'll just keep you on hold faster than they can hang up. It's easier to sell than to help people fix their old PS3 prototypes that never work. There you go, take care my friend.

Hi, I have bad news for you because since I bought Black Ops on PS3, let's say 3 weeks later I could no longer play the game, error 80010514. I went to Micromania and they told me to do a complete formatting that lasted 14 hours and 47 minutes, which is huge. Then, all happy, I relaunched the game and it worked fine for 1 hour, and after 1 hour the same thing but with a new error, 80010006. I then tried other games and there! none of the games worked. I then took it to Micromania because it was still under warranty, they sent it off and 2 weeks later they replied that the console was out of order due to the lens, which completely damaged my system (they also told me to file a complaint against Black Ops because the fault comes from several thousand poorly burned games!) I have therefore filed a complaint and now I am waiting for a refund for my PlayStation and later to buy another one with that money. Many of us are in the same situation. IT'S SERIOUS TO HAVE TO FILE A COMPLAINT FOR A 70€ GAME THAT IS POORLY BURNED AND THAT ALSO DESTROYS OUR PLAYSTATIONS. There you go, I hope this helps you.
