Hello,

<config>Windows 7 /
I have a problem, I bought a Packard Bell EasyNote TJ65 laptop, and the issue is that when I plug/unplug the power source there is a loud beep that sounds, how can I disable it?? Help me, it's unbearable!
I looked in the BIOS but found nothing, I tried regedit>HKEY_CURRENT_USERS>Controlpanel>Sound and disabled "Beep", but nothing happened, the beep is still there. What should I do?? Thanks in advance

I am on Seven.

Finally got rid of that beep that shakes the walls! I have a Packard Bell TJ65 running Windows 7, and after several attempts, I finally found the right way!
There's no need to go through the BIOS, just go to: Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Change System Sounds, and in the Playback tab, Speaker Properties, then in the Levels tab there are 2 volumes, Speakers and PC Speakers... Just disable the PC Speakers and that's it, no more BEEP!

Hello, I would like to add that in the case of the TJ65 (and I don't know why this isn't the case for everyone), the "PC speakers" option mentioned above is not always available. It is simply absent. The method to make it reappear does not consist of uninstalling the speaker drivers and restarting the PC as seen on other forums, because upon restart, Windows will reinstall the same drivers and the option will still be absent. This problem had already tormented my mind a few months after acquiring the TJ65 almost 5 years ago. I recently performed a factory reset on this computer, something I had never done before. And this problem reappeared. I had forgotten the solution and thus once again followed all the advice on different forums. Checked the BIOS (but I am not an IT professional and between us, I feel that no sound-related option is present in the BIOS), went into the registry editor options, uninstalled the drivers...

The solution is actually "very simple": go to the Packard Bell website, support tab, download center, search by product model, type TJ65. Select the only product offered. Choose the operating system (in my case, I waited for the Windows 10 update hoping the problem would resolve itself since I did the factory reset less than 2 months ago). Since Windows 10 was not offered, I selected Windows 7 64-bit version (which was the original system of my TJ65 before Windows 10). I downloaded the Audio drivers (only one driver is offered). This provides a compressed file to extract. Once extracted (with a right click and the extract all option), you need to choose the SETUP 64 file by double-clicking on it, and follow the steps. The correct driver will install without needing to restart. In the speaker options, levels tab, the PC speakers option will then have appeared. You will just have to set it to off.

Provisonally, just think about lowering the volume when someone is snoozing near you.

I managed to silence it on a Lenovo notebook running Windows XP Home Edition as follows:

    simplified instructions:
    - open the volume control by right-clicking on the "volume" icon near the clock
    - check "mute" on pc beep.

    well-explained version:
    - click on start, then control panel
    - double-click on the ''sounds and audio devices'' icon
    - in the ''volume'' tab, in the center of the window, there is a box named ''device volume'', click on ''advanced settings'', the window that opens is called ''main volume''
    - click on ''mute'' in the far-right column ''pc beep''

    and there you have it...

    Good evening,

same issue for me... and having problems with the power input after someone got caught in the power cable while the PC was plugged into the wall...

Since then, there is a faulty connection that I have to insist on by pressing on the cable (pushing it into the PC's input) in order to power my laptop correctly...

The battery connection icon (+ the power plug logo on top), indicates when I am on mains power, and when I am not, there is only the battery icon that looks like a battery under Windows 7...

This faulty contact produces a beep on power-up and when it disconnects... unfortunately, in my case, quite frequently...

My PC beeps quite loudly and despite all the tips previously mentioned on this page, I can't manage to disable it... This is quite annoying for me, because I live with roommates and I use my notebook a lot at night... It disturbs my roommates...

I have also tried the following tips, but without success:

    - Windows - Disable system beeps

Are you tired of all the system beeps, the sound from the motherboard speaker?

It is possible to disable them very easily. To do this, edit the registry:
    Start / Run / "regedit"

    Navigate to the following key:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Sound

You can disable the system beeps by creating a new string value named Beep and setting its value to No!

    See also the following tip

    Note:
This tip does not remove the beeps produced by the BIOS post at startup of the PC.

    ___________________________________________

Even if you mute the sound, MS-DOS programs can still "beep" the internal speaker of the computer.

    This can be annoying.
Here’s how to disable it once and for all.

    Type in a MS-DOS window (start>run>cmd):

    net stop beep
    sc config beep start= disabled

(Don't forget the space right after the equals sign =)

    And there you go!
Your speaker won't annoy you anymore.

    Note:
This tip does not remove the beeps produced by the BIOS post at startup of the PC.

I am saving this link in my favorites, hoping that someone will be able to clarify this issue and thus benefit everyone...

THANK YOU in advance for your help.

    Have a good weekend.

    Hello

help me, it's unbearable! <= you spend your time unplugging/replugging your phone from the mains maybe ^^

Check the System Sounds in the Control Panel to see if you can find a solution there.

Before asking a question: 1° Turn on your brain, your PC doesn't think for you!
2° Google is your friend, the search engine of CCM is too, do some research!

I've already looked into the sound systems and even deactivated them all, but there's still the beep. I've also checked the advanced power options, still nothing. But Google was the first thing I did, and I found the solutions mentioned above, and they don't work, so here we are! Any other ideas???

Thank you Hip, I tried and no, the beep is still there, I'm starting to believe it's becoming impossible. Any other ideas? Any other people in the same situation as me?

      Hi
does the beep also happen when you are in the BIOS or before Windows starts?

So let me explain. It's a laptop, and when I unplug the power cable (when switching from AC mode to battery and vice versa), a loud beep occurs, which is unpleasant. I've tried it with the laptop turned off and there is no beep, but as soon as the laptop is on (whether the session is open or not), when I unplug or plug in the power, it beeps, and I would like to disable it?

if you don't have a "beep" or "alarm" to disable in the BIOS!!!
uninstall the driver of your sound card (probably Realtek), restart the PC, Windows 7 will automatically reinstall the sound card on boot (possibly without an add-on from Packard B)
      why not? ^^

Before uninstalling anything, try plugging/unplugging your laptop with the sound muted/volume set to the minimum. If the beep is still present, the sound card is not the culprit; it's the motherboard's speaker that's being used.

I'm just adding one thing: the tip (if it works) I didn't come up with it myself.

It's under XP, but it should be quite similar in Vista / 7.
Open "Device Manager" and go to "View" -> "Show hidden devices", then scroll down to "Non-Plug and Play Drivers", click the "+" and right-click on the item that says "Beep". Then select "Disable" and restart your computer. The beep should be permanently disabled.
