Hello everyone!!!

Here it is
I have a big problem :(

My PC won't turn on!!!!

Let me explain:

I press the power button: the fan starts running, a second later a loud BEEP sounds! It lasts about 3-4 seconds, then nothing, then BEEP.... etc. The screen doesn’t turn on anymore; I changed the screen and that’s not the issue
(my keyboard and mouse light up)

I think the problem is internal
I have a Windows XP Pro PC (it's about a year old)

I had the same thing happen twice: the first time was a dead RAM stick. The second time was a disconnected RAM stick.

Actually, I'm going to correct myself:

it's giving me beeps of 2-3 seconds, much longer than the short beep I had before Y_Y

and I've counted up to 20 beeps and then I turned them off again Y_Y

Hi,

As Hervelot asked you, we need the name and version of your BIOS.

Otherwise, check your RAM sticks, connections, and if you have multiple ones, try isolating them one by one to see if you have a defective one. If you have a second working PC available, also try your graphics card on that other PC.

I had the same symptoms with a few beeps (BIOS version and brand) and it turned out to be the RAM bus.

I'd like to tell you the name of my "bios" but the problem is that I don't know what it looks like =)

So please describe it to me =)

Otherwise, I just changed the "position" of my RAM card and I'm still getting the same long beep that lasts indefinitely.

You open the case of your PC. On the motherboard, the name is written near the slot for your processor. For example, Asus P4b...

I'm ashamed to say this but... I still can't see my bios thing =)

Let me explain (again, yes)
I see a big red card with one end sticking out on the other side with a plug (I think it's the printer plug =))

And there's a fan and, uh, a big box that's 1.5 cm tall, 10-12 cm long, and 5 cm wide =) and it has 2 connectors plugged into it (super thin but with lots of wires)

In fact, the BIOS is a small program that is used for starting up the machine.

To access this program, you need to press a key as soon as the machine starts. This key is indicated on the screen in the form “Press (F2 or F10 or Del) to enter Setup.” This message often appears at the bottom of the screen.

At this point, a window appears and the name of the BIOS is displayed at the top of the screen.

I've had this problem several times on my computer.

All you have to do is disconnect your memory sticks (one or more) and then reconnect them. If you have several, change their positions each time until it starts!

That's how I solved my problem.

Hi there, I don't know if I can help you but I had the same problem which I resolved immediately thanks to the LCD screen of the striker extreme; for the price, it could really help me. Some motherboards emit a sound, rather an unpleasant alarm, to warn that something is not plugged in correctly. So, check everything: fans, graphics card (that was my case), RAM, drive - you never know -, sound card if you have one, power supply, IDE connectors, SATA...

I just had the same problem. I first removed one of my two sticks of RAM and the computer restarted without any issues. I did the same with the other stick and again the PC restarted without any problems. Therefore, I put the two sticks back in and the PC restarted perfectly. Lesson learned --> I think in my case it was just a simple loose connection.
