Hello,
everything is pretty much in the title,

when I turn on my PC, I hear 1 long beep and 3 short beeps, then my computer starts normally except that my screen does not turn on.

I've searched a bit on the net and found various answers, but nothing very precise. I saw that it could be a problem with the graphics card, the GPU slot, the processor, the motherboard, or even the keyboard, but with all that, nothing very specific.

So there's my problem, I can't change the components one by one because I don't have spare parts. I can test with a friend's PC, but I'm afraid of frying his motherboard or processor.

Oh yes, and I can't check for sounds because I have a Windows session :s

Any help from you would be welcome, thank you :)

PS: it’s not me who has the problem but a friend, well it’s the same anyway.
Configuration: Windows XP Firefox 3.0.11

Hello,

if after the tests you’ve done it’s the same, we need to move on to phase 2, which consists first of replacing the graphics card, as 1 long beep and 3 short beeps indicate that there are issues with the graphics card.

Depending on the motherboard brand, the beep codes may vary; it could also be the keyboard, so start with that as it’s easier to change.

Well, I don't think the config has anything to do with it, he uses his PC very well and takes great care of it,

I'm still going to mention the specs:

motherboard: p5w dh deluxe
graphics card: msi 7950gt
processor: e6600 2.4 ghz
ram: corsair 2 x 1go pc 5300
power supply: maxipower 520w

and I think I’m not forgetting anything.

Change your processor to P4, flash your BIOS to the latest version and it will work very well. Good luck, then put your first processor back.

Hello everyone,

so if that interests anyone, he tested his GPU on his brother's PC and it doesn't work, but the RAM and CPU are fine, so there we have our answer.

I'm sorry for going around in circles a bit, but that's my habit, I ask a lot of questions, and based on the answers, I do the tests, plus according to what I saw online, I wasn't wrong to do it this way :)

Anyway, all that to say that he will change his GPU.

Thank you all for your help anyway, especially you Pepito for your table of error beeps according to the BIOS and all that :)

Have a great day and good luck to everyone.

Hello,

most likely the graphics card, given the display issue.........

can you tell me more about the specs of this PC?

Hi,
make sure everything is plugged in properly on the PC: graphics card, sound card, etc...
try removing the RAM and then putting just one back if you have several, if the PC restarts you can put the others back later
that's it, see you later ++

how come the configuration has nothing to do with it??
how to know if you have an integrated graphics chipset or a PCI card?

have you tried removing and reinstalling the graphics card? also check the power cable behind the GPU.

He took everything apart, but everything what, the CPU, the GPU, the motherboard, the RAM, and still the same result :(

He tested the GPU in a second slot, removed the CPU, reapplied thermal paste, and now it's a bit of a dead end :s

I have the same card but my brother does as I say.

You need to test the graphics card on another PC.

I know, I was already familiar with the site and the types of beeps and solutions, but it doesn't change anything about the problem.

Thanks everyone for your responses, and if you have any ideas or insights, feel free to let me know :)

Good evening...

Here are already the BIOS beeps:

https://www.vulgarisation-informatique.com/bips-bios.php

That said, if there is an integrated GPU on the motherboard, disconnect the PCI GPU and try the integrated one... It sounds a lot like a GPU issue, but still....?!

Best regards,

See you later

1 long beep, 2 or 3 short beeps:

* Video error

* Solutions:

-Reinsert the graphics card or its memory extension.

-If the problem persists, change the graphics card.

Try your graphics card on its PC, you will see if that's the issue.
There you go, apart from that I can't do better, sorry.

Why the keyboard?

I know I know a lot, but I don't see the connection with the keyboard lol :o

Can you explain that to me, please?

No, it's not the keyboard, the P5WDH deluxe has an AMI BIOS.

re,
I'm going to repeat myself, but it's the graphics card, no doubt about it...
try another card...
try the RAM...
try I don't know, but if you don't try, you won't know. It seems logical.
you seem to be overthinking something obvious, you know sometimes you don't have to look too far.

Well yeah, I know we need to try things, but when you can't, you can't. However, if you could avoid making comments like that:
An answer = a try and not a question, otherwise it's the dog chasing its tail...

That would be nice, thanks

For now, we're trying to see if he can "fix" his problem, without changing his setup since he doesn't have one.

I just asked a question about the keyboard, to see what connection it has with beeping and a black screen, that's all, I'm just gathering information.

We'll see tomorrow about him changing his graphics card; until then, nothing is possible.

And the GPU integrated into the motherboard, is there one or not?

If you can't test another GPU tonight, the only option is to keep messing with it, meaning unplugging and replugging it repeatedly, hoping for a sign from God. But, honestly, I doubt that's the solution, so in that case, wait until tomorrow, go to your friend's place with your GPU, and try there...
In my opinion, he will quickly turn on his PC, but apparently it's not worth trying tonight, BE PATIENT
