Big software issues with Ciel quotes/invoices

Hello,
I'm using the Ciel quote/invoice software on my PC and I'm having a big issue as it shows an error message that prevents me from entering the software. Yet it was working yesterday.
The message is "the license file is missing"
Thank you for your help, I'm totally stuck and not very good with computers, so I'm hesitant to mess with anything.

Hello, I also have a big problem with Ciel Quotes and Invoices. My computer is unusable, I have to
reinstall Ciel Quotes and Invoices on another computer. Of course, I've lost all my data.
The problem is that Ciel is asking me for the unlocking key, so I give them the one I have, but it doesn't accept it. What can I do since I refused assistance because it is too expensive and the person who answers is not very nice?

I also have a problem with my unlocking key; I still have one launch left, yet Ciel tells me they gave me the correct numbers, but nothing works.

I have exactly the same type of trouble with Ciel, the invoicing software, which asks me to launch the data control program, but it's impossible without assistance for an additional 199 euros per year. Additionally, they are unfriendly and don't hesitate to hang up on you. I'm looking for another software, thank you.

I went on Nego Facturation (http://nego.sup.fr)
Easy to use, quite comprehensive, and there's a support forum (accessible even in the free version).
The free version is not time-limited, but you can only create invoices with a maximum of 5 lines (otherwise, the full version is €45).

the unlock key is free, only the call is charged when you change computers
I had to perform a reset because the computer was down, I called and they sent it to me by email
and I am not a customer with their paid support which is really too expensive

In fact, it depends on how the program is set up. For example, if you reinstall Windows XP, you will lose everything in My Documents because that folder is linked to users, which are reset during a reinstallation.

In a similar way, you might lose data or the way the software finds that data.

Actually, I don't know how invoices are saved (in what format).

Do you have a directory where the data is stored (do you know)? In that case, you could copy all that data to another directory just in case and try to reinstall the program.

However, do you only have this problem, or are other strange things happening as well? In the latter case, it could be a consequence of a virus attack or something similar, and we could first try to clean up any viruses just in case.

Do you have an antivirus? Other similar software (antispyware, etc.)?

No, I don't have antivirus software because I actually don't have the internet, only an email account (the messages I’m currently sending you are going through my daughter who has the internet).

I don't really have any other issues, or at least not yet!

Otherwise, for my data (quotes, invoices), I regularly back up Ciel quotes/invoices on a floppy disk. So after the re-installation, I was thinking of restoring my data.

Since your computer is not connected to the internet, you shouldn't have any virus problems. So it must be something else.

You have backups, great!

I think your idea is good. But do you also have a client database? Is it saved on the floppy disk?

If you believe that all the data is backed up on the floppy disk, there shouldn't be too much risk.

I've been thinking about this for a while now and I can't see any other solution. But I still don't understand why your software suddenly stopped working today. I've looked into people having the same issue as you and so far, nothing has come up. Let me search a bit more, and if I really don't find anything, I don't see any other options.

For issues like this, all the forums (or internal customer support of companies using this software) I've visited seem to suggest uninstalling and reinstalling the software.

I'm sorry I couldn't find you a better solution, and I hope this will suffice.

Thank you very much for taking so much time to help me.

I think I will try to reinstall the software (or at least have my daughter do it), because it seems to me that when I changed computers, she installed the Ciel software and then restored the backups (I need to ask her), and I shouldn't have lost anything, otherwise I would remember.

In the meantime, thank you again for your help, I am very grateful to you. As soon as I have reinstalled it, I will keep you updated on the result in this same discussion (I think my daughter will be able to do it on Wednesday evening 31/08/05).

I have a problem with the Sky invoice quote; can you help me, thanks in advance. So for the issue: I want to create two invoice templates, one with VAT and the other without VAT. I know I can do it with layers, but I want two separate states like Sky commercial management.

Hello, it's me again.

Good news, my problem is solved. In fact, I went to the site you suggested and they told me that I needed to copy the CRUN.BIN file onto the Ciel Install CD and then copy it to my PC in the Ciel management base.

I then inserted my Install CD to copy this file, but I couldn't find it, and I clicked on Install software, thinking that this file might be there afterwards. However, it worked for about 10 seconds and displayed this message: "Installation completed successfully, please restart the computer to update the data."
After restarting the computer, I went to Ciel management (which opened correctly), thinking I would have to restore my backup data, but no, everything was there (folder, client, quotes, invoices...) and I could work (no need to go back to paper/pencil).

I think this is because I didn't uninstall the Ciel software and instead reinstalled it over the existing one (by mistake), it only updated the data, because the only thing that wasn't as it used to be was the layout of my quotes and invoices on the screen, with missing or additional columns (but printing was fine compared to before).

I would like to thank you again for your help, it was very helpful.

Thank you very much for your response. Unfortunately, the accounting file has existed for a long time, I've even tried to link the file with Ciel quotes invoices but it refuses...
The error message is: the transfer settings do not indicate a valid company or have never been performed. Would you like to modify them?
But whatever I indicate, it doesn't go through...

I wouldn’t want you to lose some of your data when reinstalling your software.

I think you should contact Ciel’s customer service. They have the exact list of errors and can guide you. You should have their number on the box or the Ciel quote/invoice documentation.

I don’t think I know the software well enough to help you "blindly" without risking making some "mistakes".

Do you think that by reinstalling, I could lose what kind of data?

I have a problem with Ciel Quote-Invoice (and not with the maintenance contract which is as expensive as the software...)
I would like to transfer my accounting entries but it indicates "no company available". The accounting software is on the same PC, though.
Do you know how I can set it up? I have tried everything but have not found the path.

Hello

You need to create your accounting file in Ciel Compta so that Ciel Gestion knows where to send the file.
For example:
Your file in Ciel Gestion is called: GROS GAIN SARL
you could then create in Ciel Compta: GROS GAIN SARL by filling in the basic information about the identity of the company as created.

When you export your accounting journal to Ciel Gestion Com, a small screen will open at the bottom of the screen asking you to choose the destination company, you will select "GROS GAIN SARL" and the export will take place. (do not leave the Ciel Compta application open).

Then you go to Ciel Compta and open it.

A message will inform you that an accounting file is waiting for import and if you accept it (something like that)
If you respond "yes", the import will take place.

But if your entries are incorrectly set up: client account number contains forbidden characters: empty space, "-, /, =," etc., you will get an error message. In that case, you will need to go back to Ciel Gestion to correct these errors before regenerating the entries and re-exporting them afterward.

To avoid any problems with Ciel, which is not as user-friendly as it seems,
please go to the site dovax.fr where a free application (Visual AndFast) is available for download. This will allow you to create your quotes, invoices, HR management, and inventory management in just a few clicks.

Hi,

I am from Belgium and I just had the same issue. I simply followed the advice from Ciel Belgium to reinstall the automatic run program and it did the trick.

I agree that software like Ciel is difficult to troubleshoot, and their hotline is not affordable for everyone. I recommend this software

for your information I purchased the software, no one else is working on it and I haven't done any cleaning.
I am a business and I have had this software for about 2 years.

More precise error message:
error cun 500.dll number 33
the file does not exist or you do not have sufficient privileges to access it.

Do you think reinstalling the software could work
