[Sky Quote Invoice] Import client data

Patrick -
 William -
Hello,

I recently acquired Ciel Devis-Facture 2006 for one of my clients. This client (like many other businesses, I believe) had a specifically developed product. I was able to export the client data (+/- 3900 records, nonetheless...).

Then in Ciel Devis-Facture... Nothing... No data import procedure other than that for Ciel files from older versions (version 4, for example). A phone call to support didn’t provide a solution (“It’s impossible”)

Has anyone found a solution to this problem... I am truly surprised (I hadn’t even thought to evaluate this issue during the study since all the other equivalent software has such a function) that a “modern” software does not allow the import of data at least in delimited or fixed text format...

I specify that “risky” manipulations can be attempted (opening a file) if necessary.

Thank you in advance...

Have a good day.

Ciel Commercial Management Evolution allows for the import and export of data in the desired format, with all fields fully configurable. With the Network version, you can even create a temporary directory that is regularly updated, meaning you can have a database on a MySQL server that manages a web sales site, and the data is automatically retrieved and exported in TXT format. Then, through a macro that runs regularly, these files are inserted into the Ciel database on the Ciel server, and finally, your Ciel client application retrieves (synchronizes its database) with that of the Ciel server.
So, a customer buys something online and, voilà, five minutes later, it appears in your local commercial management file.
We can do better with the client's ability to print an invoice in PDF: (a PDF generator on the web server, MySQL), so they automatically receive an invoice they can print or receive via email at the end of the order validation. Another advantage is the real-time stock management (within a few minutes, I admit) on the website. Ciel offers an 'e-commerce' service, but it's very limited, very expensive, and requires using their payment interface, etc. In short, not practical at all. A bit of PHP and MySQL can help circumvent these issues. There is even a pre-made invoice model for the PDF generator: http://www.fpdf.org/fr/script/script20.php

Hello ... and help !!!

I am a webmaster and I have the problem of interfacing a quoting-invoicing application in a physical store with the MySQL of the online shop. Neither the online services of EBP nor Ciel have been able to help me and it is not my client's wish (nor mine) to take their expensive in-house online shop solution that is very limited in functionality.

Could you tell me if you were able to make the solution you mentioned work and give me a lead? Does this also apply, for example, to a Ciel Commercial Management in a network?? Thank you

Hello,
Do you know of a realization of what you are describing that works? Developed by whom? I'm interested in that!
Thank you in advance.

In fact, it's quite simple if you're working with Ciel and a sgdvf file you want to open:

The context menu for opening files, restoring, and drag-and-drop do not work.

Copy the sgdvf file into the Ciel directory, specifically in the supplements/Example files folder where there is already a file with the same extension.

Then you just need to open it from file open and look for the Ciel directory. I tried it, it works...

Enjoy

The problem always arises when importing data from the independent professional sky to the Quotes Invoices sky, as the database names are different: .sgind for one and .sgdvf for the other.

Hello

You should explain your problem directly to the software developer who will provide either an update or a patch that will resolve the compatibility issue.
Normally, all these details are noted in the manual provided with the software if it was purchased, of course.

Hello,

Thank you for your contribution, but as mentioned above, Ciel's support informed me that it was impossible (via the software interface).

The documentation and online help only reference the import of files from previous versions of this software (as also indicated in my first message).

My question was more about whether anyone had already found an "unofficial" solution (which does not mean illegal). For example, Ciel Compta versions use databases in the DBF format, which is relatively easy to work with.

The database format used by Ciel Devis-Facture is completely unknown to me ("Cambfile" in the header and extension "sgdvf"). I would therefore like to know if anyone has found a way to connect to this type of database (ODBC, JDBC, ...) or knows of any utility (commercial or not) that allows manipulating this type of file. I must say that all the research I have conducted so far, using these clues, has not yielded any actionable information.

Thank you once again for your contribution.

Hello,

I found myself asking exactly the same question today... So I immediately called support and they told me it was impossible as well... However, they mentioned the 2007 version of the product, which seems to be able to import data (but I didn't find out more: I don't have the client code of my contact and support won't tell me more).
Also, I would like to know if you have made any progress in your research, and if so, what solution have you adopted!

Thank you for your response,

Best regards,
Sébastien

If someone has the answer, I'm interested!
Actually, I just built a brand new PC with my lovely Ciel invoice and I would like to avoid re-entering the 1200 clients from my old PC!!
Just to know, I also don't want to recover the invoices or the items... I just want to start with my client database.
So, if anyone knows, thank you in advance.

Today I have the same problem as you, namely that I bought the CIEL solution and I cannot import my old data because of the sgind extension.

Have you found a solution since then?

Hello,

I notice in this post that the same problem I have is occurring with others, namely how to export these files with strange extensions to Excel or Wordpad at the very least.
I indeed want to retrieve my client files from Ciel Devis factures 2003; for Ciel's hotline, there's nothing to be done for information unless you pay, so I'm going in circles and I don't see how to proceed.
Thank you for your help, this is becoming urgent.

PS: I have the program on a disk that Windows no longer boots from, and I think Ciel will not work anymore if I overwrite Windows.

Sky Accounting works well for accounting, but for invoices and quotes a management is needed. However, the problem with the medium remains; it’s around €89 excluding tax for accounting, and the duo pack is €149.

On the other hand, check the APCE website which has a partnership and provides a version free of charge subject to eligibility.

Hello,

Your response catches my attention, could you please clarify whether you tried it with the Ciel Evolution Commercial Network version for 2 workstations or with the Ciel Evolution Commercial Network version for unlimited workstations, or if it works with both

Best regards

Hello!
We are a company setting up a website (for September), and we would like the invoices to be automatically generated by fetching customer data collected from our database (server-side).
I would like to know if, since Ciel Gestion 7.1, it is possible to import data into a buffer directory of the software that would be synchronized with a MySQL database, or is it only possible with the network version?
Thank you for clarifying this point!

On Ciel 2006 and Evolution, it is possible to create a state to import data in delimited format.

Is it possible to get more details on the creation of the states necessary for importing quotes and invoices into Ciel commercial management?

Hello,

The questions keep coming, but there's still no answer to the one I'm interested in :-(
How can I recover a file from Ciel Devis facture TOTO.sgdvf into Ciel Auto-entrepreneur which only manages TOTO.sgind?

Thank you,
