Hello,

I bought an Acer laptop running Vista. I recovered my old desktop computer with a mouse and keyboard, but I don't have a screen. I want to connect the two PCs together to display what’s on the desktop computer on the laptop's screen. I bought a VGA cable, plugged it in, and pressed the screen switch key on the laptop. But the screen just keeps flickering and I can't get what’s on the desktop computer to display on the laptop's screen. Can someone please help me, thank you very much.

Configuration: Windows Vista / Firefox 3.6.3

In a network, you will need, first, a screen to configure it the first time, and second, you will have access to the folders and files that you have previously shared, but not to the "performances" or the "hardware" in the sense that you only access the data (it’s not possible to take advantage of the graphics card, for example, or to run a game on it...).
In short, your laptop will not be a user interface for your desktop but rather a gateway to a file server.

Otherwise, you have the option to use the Windows function or another program that allows you to take control of your PC via another PC, in this case, your laptop.
This system would allow you to achieve roughly what you are looking for, which is to "see your desktop" from your desktop PC on your laptop.

With, of course, some performance losses; however, I don’t have enough mastery of this subject to inform you accordingly.
You will also need a screen to configure your desktop PC and open the remote control.
