Does the order of connection in a switch matter?

Hello,
I would like to know if there are any prescriptions and precautions to take when connecting Ethernet switches in series.
Indeed, I have 2 groups of 2 computers at home. They get internet from an Orange Livebox.
At the output of the Livebox, I have an Ethernet switch that distributes via Ethernet cable directly to another Ethernet switch that splits between a Windows and a Mac. That’s one part. And from the switch at the output of the Livebox, to the other group of 2 computers, I distribute via Powerline to retrieve and at the output of the Powerline I have again an Ethernet switch that splits between two Linux computers. This gives me a total of 3 Ethernet switches in the house!
I've had some glitches in the second group of PCs when retrieving from my Powerline adapter to a switch; sometimes it doesn't work (Internet). Similarly, depending on the order of the cable connections in the switch near the Livebox, it works or doesn’t work. Is this normal? Should there be a specific connection order according to the destination of the cables? I specify that all my switches have 5 ports in total each. Thank you

You need to connect your cables to port number 1 of the switch.
