I wanted to pre-order an item from FNAC, and I wanted to know if the charge occurs at the time of shipping or shortly after the order. I looked on the site but didn't find anything.

it might be a bit late, but I found this article on online help:
"What are the conditions for shipping in-stock items?
You will only be charged at the time of shipping.
In exceptional cases, an additional delay may be necessary to validate your payment.
The delivery times for La Poste in mainland France are usually 1 to 2 days.

Pre-order Item
Some items are posted online and available for order on our site well before their release date, this is called a pre-order.
The mention "Pre-order item, delivery expected starting from ..." will appear on the product page of the item in question.
The pre-ordered package will then be shipped the day before the national release for delivery on the day of its release (depending on postal delivery times).
Please note that release dates are set by publishers, manufacturers, or suppliers who may be led to change them. These new deadlines will be communicated to you as far as possible."
