Xbox 360 + HDMI + Home theater 5.1 solution?

Hello,

I just acquired a Samsung HD LCD television with a home theater system.
I want to enjoy 5.1 sound via my XBOX console while keeping the HDMI (console -> TV).

Currently: the console is connected with the original YUV and RCA cable (not sure of their names).
The "YUV" (green, blue, red cable) goes to the TV for picture (pretty decent but of lower quality than with the HDMI cable) and the RCA goes to my amplifier, my 5 speakers work but they output the same sound (logical).

My home theater: An LG purchased for €169 (I don't know the exact model name) apparently has no optical input for sound. Just one HDMI output, one YUV input, and one RCA input.

Problem: how to connect my console to my amplifier while keeping my HDMI port available, with 5.1 sound? Because the cable is too thick and you can't connect both at the same time to the console (HDMI + cable = not possible).

Additional info: recent console, bought a week ago.
I repeat, I don't think I have an optical input for audio on my amplifier... need to check...

Thank you for your most detailed responses possible, just as I tried to be in posting my problem. Thank you
Configuration: Windows 7 Firefox 3.5.7

The RCA input for the home theater will only be 2.1, which is a Hi-Fi sound.
The HDMI output from the home theater is only used to enjoy the built-in DVD player.
If this home theater is only 2.1, it remains a Hi-Fi system with spatialization effects and not a home theater.

The XBOX360 console contains a YUV+RCA cable and an HDMI cable; the best option would be to connect the console to the screen using HDMI and the screen to the home theater using RCA.

Thank you for your quick response. In short, no adapter would be able to give me 5.1 if I don't have an optical input on my home theater?

Would changing the amplifier be the solution?

For the solution you proposed, I don't think my TV has RCA outputs, only an optical output it seems....

What a mess, when I think that I spent 170 euros blindly, and those damn salespeople unable to properly inform a customer, it's about time that changes.

At the cost of an adapter, it might not cost you double your amplifier, but at least half. In this context, you might as well return it with "not satisfied, refund" and get a solid home cinema like the Philips 7.1, for example, which has plenty of connections. =)
