I accidentally uninstalled a diskette, and now my sound files have become huge and it's asking me to insert a diskette, I don't really know what's going on ..!

When I put my XP Pro CD into my laptop's drive to perform a system repair, a page opens asking me to insert the Windows automatic system recovery disk (which I don't have), and my laptop is currently out of order.

Launch the XP CD normally, and at the beginning, it will prompt you to press F6; go ahead and do that, then let yourself be guided by the Windows installation assistant.
If it asks you to press F2, don’t do it because pressing that key will prompt you to insert a Windows XP system recovery disk.

Hello everyone,
The problem that Madeinnormandy encountered, I had it too. In fact, when we reinstall Windows XP, there comes a moment when we're asked to insert the automatic system recovery disk. How can we create this disk?

There are no XP diskettes. If you want to boot from a dk, you need a Win 98 boot! Try this:

Hello,
I believe I'm endlessly repeating the same answer: you can repair the Windows XP system by performing a repair installation:
•> boot from the CD
... processing ...
•> first question "Repair or install": answer "Install"
... processing, recognition of a previous installation ...
•> second question "Repair or install": answer "Repair"
•> leave the CD in during the first reboot: installation of SP2.
The process repairs the system while keeping the installations.
Pb1: the 2002 base of the system overwrites IE7 with IE6, which is not critical.
Pb2: a Microsoft bug prevents subsequent UpDate from Microsoft (Registry problem). The problem has been solved in forums:

tip obtained by j@ckie on the Microsoft forum:
To summarize, the issue arises after a repair of Windows XP:
- the latest version of Windows Update installs the file Wups2.dll on the disk
- the repair with the CD erases the Registry entries related to this file.
This is enough to cause this issue with the installation of updates.
SOLUTION
========
Search for the file> cmd.exe (in \i386\ and execute it or make a desktop shortcut (if you think you'll often need to access the command line)).
In the command window (DOS-UNIX ??): successively validate the following lines
net stop wuauserv
regsvr32 %windir%\system32\wups2.dll
net start wuauserv
These commands
• stop the update checker,
• repair the registry,
• restart the service.

Launch Internet Explorer>Tools>Windows Update: it should work (currently expect 92 updates not counting IE7.
Hoping this can be useful to you, Good luck.
Sincerely,
arrial

Hello, is there anyone who can help me because I can't install Windows after a forced restart of the system. Now my PC won't boot up in either Safe Mode or normally, and I can't even reinstall; whenever I'm prompted to install, repair, or exit the installation, no matter what I do, it gets stuck. Trying to install gives me a message at the bottom of the screen
"Checking: disk 0 of 76317 MB with ID 0 of bus 0 on atapi..."
Thank you for your response.

I had this problem, and I solved it with a manual repair:

erratum:
read: System Volume Information (instead of System Volume Information)
the tilde ~ is obtained by [Alt+126] if the [AltGr] key is inoperative.
I formatted my disk and I wanted to install an XP system but I'm unable to do so, and I now want to recover the previous version. Thank you.
Hello, I've lost my Windows XP CD (not pirated, I assure you ;) ) and I would like to access the recovery console (via the Ubuntu live CD or the BIOS, I can't access my XP...). Is it possible, for example, with a floppy disk?
The person is right because I just had a serious problem since my DVD player crashed and as a result, my hard drive was no longer recognized. But before realizing that my player had crashed, the computer was telling me to reboot the system, so I put XP on 2 boot choices: floppy disk or CD, and I wanted to repair the system with XP, and it asked me for the system recovery floppy, so if you can't find it, create one.
Ok, your PC doesn't boot, is that right??? At the root of C:, there are 3 files that you need to put on your floppy disk: boot.ini, ntldr, ntdetect.com. They are hidden files, but put them on your floppy disk and you should boot. If the problem persists, explain to me again, sorry but I don't always understand well in French.

Hello, I have a problem with Windows. It starts the installation, then stops and tells me "unknown disk." It leaves me with three options: continue, create a partition, or delete, but whatever I do, the blue screen appears. What should I do? I don't understand anything. Thank you for your help.
