Good evening.
I have an emachines G725 laptop and I used to have Vista Home Basic.
I formatted the HDD and then I installed a clean Windows Seven Pro, but since then I can no longer manage the screen brightness as I used to with Vista. I used to press "Fn" + "Left/Right Arrow" to adjust the brightness, but with Seven nothing happens... what should I do?
Thanks in advance

Good evening, have you installed the graphics card driver?
-
I contacted support and they told me that this PC is not compatible with Windows 7... O_O
Well, there might be a solution, which is to download the utility to manage the brightness and run it in Vista compatibility mode... To be tested. -
Yes, I downloaded the driver "VGA driver 8.15.10.1840" here (Notebook - G series - G725):

Good evening.
Could you please pass me this utility?
Is it good for Windows 7?
Best regards-
It is theoretically not for Windows 7, and it asks for confirmation during the installation that we want to install an earlier version. However, it seems to work perfectly normally on Windows 7 (at least I haven't encountered any malfunctions yet), and I have regained control of the brightness, including via the keyboard.
Here is the link (I believe it's what is indicated above):

You need to choose Notebook, G series, G725 (at least if you have this model), then the VGA utility.

Good evening.
Did you take the VGA driver for Windows 7 or for Windows Vista?
Thanks in advance. -
OK.
However, I don't have the utility in the list, just the VGA driver:

Is this the one? -
On the emachine 620G, just go to the battery icon - bottom left of the screen, click on it:
"other power options" adjust the brightness... and voilà !!!! have a good evening -
Good evening.
Mine is an eMachines G725.
And I haven't received any answers to this:

Good evening.
I just tested it, and it works for me!
Thanks, Plouf. ;)
Have a nice evening. -
Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,
I’m joining this forum because I also have a G725 recently upgraded to Windows 7. I have two issues:
- the touchpad is not as precise as it used to be
- the battery only lasts 3 minutes now...
Have you encountered these problems?
Thank you in advance

Good evening everyone,
I’m a bit late to this forum, but I just installed Win7 on my G725 emachine too.
The screen brightness functions no longer work, and the touchpad is laggy...
I tried installing the old drivers (Vista Home Basic) like you did, but Windows 7 prevents me from doing so by sending an error message saying "the driver is not meant for this computer..."
Any ideas?
Thank you in advance

up ?
Same issue, this driver is not intended for this computer, please contact the manufacturer. -
For me (G725 win7 ultimate), it seems that the screen driver is not the problem but LAUNCH MANAGER that is not working, so fn+arrow does not work
How can I revert to a version that works?
Thank you -
Hello everyone
I have an eMachine G725 and Windows 7 Ultimate, and I have the same issue: the fn+arrow keys no longer adjust the brightness, which is stuck at maximum. I wear sunglasses, but I would really like to find the right drivers
I have tried the ones from the eMachine site, the latest version, the older version... nothing changes
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
