Windows 7: Stuck on "Welcome"

Question

Hello,
I have a problem for a few days; when I turn on my computer, it gets stuck on the Windows 7 welcome message. The first time I had this issue, I performed a system restore dating back to the installation of a game, knowing that I had a more recent restore point corresponding to "critical update," and the problem was solved. The next day when I started my PC, same issue and same solution. Today, same problem except that in the restore options, I only have the "critical update" restore point, which does not resolve the issue. I should note that safe mode works and that I went into Windows repair mode and it finds no startup issues.

If anyone has an idea other than formatting, it could be helpful :)

For my part, I just had to start in safe mode, and from there I uninstalled my antivirus (Avast) and hop hop hop, there it works perfectly again.

In the event viewer, the following warning is displayed at the date and time of the last startup attempt: "The Winlogon notification subscriber  was unavailable to handle a notification event."

I don't have an answer, but I have the same problem.

Windows 7 gets stuck on the welcome screen. In safe mode, everything works (even the internet) and the system check tells me that Windows is fine.

My hardware:

Pentium I7 920
ATI RADEON 4890
6GB Corsair RAM
Motherboard P6T SE

What I suspect, but I don't know enough:
The graphics card,
The RAM,
A Firefox plugin (is that possible?? like JAVA for example)
The hard drive that is old??

I might soon consider formatting knowing that in safe mode I can recover my data, but it's always a hassle to reinstall everything...

I just rebooted by pressing F8, Windows loaded a repair, then a menu appeared with the option to restore a session. Reboot and it works. Thank you

This problem seems to be recurring and doesn't appear to be related to a hardware issue, I feel.

I'm having the same trouble on my laptop, which is just over a year old (Packard Bell).

At first, a hard reboot would fix it, but now I'm stuck on this "welcome" screen, or very rarely it shows a black screen with only the mouse visible and movable.
I did a restore yesterday, not too far back to see what would happen, it booted up fine, and now today it's acting up again. I really don't know what to do: no more warranty and the recommended methods don't seem to work.

One can never say it enough.
When everything is going well.

Run a virus scan.
Perform a disk check and repair.
Perform a good defragmentation.
Create an image of your "system" partition.
Back up your data.

It may come in handy someday.

This just happened to me and here’s what I did:

I started the computer in "safe mode with networking"

Then I browsed the internet for 2 minutes ...

Then I clicked on the Windows logo in the bottom left (you know, to open the menu) and clicked on the little arrow next to "shut down", I clicked on "restart"

The computer turned off and then restarted in normal mode.

To my surprise, when I typed in my password, my session launched normally! (after about a minute of loading on the "welcome" message). The screen was black for a moment with just my cursor, then the desktop appeared and everything else.

Hello,
I have a similar problem during some updates and just after restarting, my PC gets stuck, it doesn't shut down anymore (still in sleep mode) and it doesn't start up again. I've tried the F8 and F10 keys but they don't work :/

Same problem, blockage due to Windows updates and Avast.
Solution applied:
Start in safe mode
Update the antivirus via the Control Panel \ Programs and Features \ avast! Free Antivirus (problem fix by Avast)

I am in the office.  3rd workstation with the issue and to resolve the problem I proceed as follows: - Windows startup repair - Restore the last Windows restore point (when it was updated) If that doesn't work: - Launch the command prompt in the recovery tools and run:   chkdsk /f /r d: d: being at that moment the C drive of Windows  P.S.: Avast antivirus enterprise version on the workstations  The problem has been resolved on the 3 workstations in this manner.

Hello, I have the same issue but my antivirus is Trend Internet Security, which was already installed on the computer when I bought it. I tried to uninstall it but it doesn't work. I would like to try to do a system recovery, but I don't know when my last update was. What should I do???
