Hello,
I bought the software "Save Your Video Cassettes" (by Micro Application).
Everything is fine, the software is installed, I have everything connected to my computer and the VHS, Output. I have the image in the software, I can record and everything, but I have no sound! The instruction booklet clearly states to choose USB Audio, but I don't have that option, I can only choose my built-in speakers (I have a laptop). Why?
Thank you in advance! =)

Hello, I have exactly the same problem as you! If you found the solution, could you please share it?

If you are using Vista, you need to download a patch
https://www.avanquest.com/France/logiciels/sauvezvoscassettesvideo-156377?meta=logiciels-utilitaires&cat=sauvegarde-recuperation&sub=sauvegarde&rs2=REDIRECT_FP_NVELLE_REF
but I don't know if it works. -

In response to LITTLECARO's question
Save your video tapes, no sound
I had the problem and I have a solution, first: don't be afraid...
You need to go to Control Panel
Click on large icons
Click on System
Click on Change settings
A window opens "System Properties" with 5 tabs
Click on Hardware
Click on Device Manager
There you will see a list of everything the pc contains for the system
You need to click on the little arrow next to Sound, video and game controllers to open a menu
You need to uninstall all the devices
Click on a device and then press the "delete" button on the keyboard, a window will open to confirm the uninstallation, click ok and do not check the box to delete the driver, and so on until the last device in this menu
Once all devices are uninstalled, turn off the computer to save the changes
Restart the computer
You will see next to the clock an icon representing a white column with a green spinning light, wait: a tooltip will open, do not touch it, as soon as the light stops, the tooltip changes and is checked in green, the icon disappears and then the SOUND is back
As we forced the computer to search for the sound device driver and it installed it, it reinstalled the uninstalled devices, everything is back in place.

I had exactly the same problem and I have the solution that costs practically nothing. If you also have video signal but no audio because the software does not give you the "USB AUDIO" in the dropdown list of available ports...
In this list, you should theoretically see your sound card? If not, my solution doesn't apply to you, sorry.
So, do you see your sound card?
Get a ¼ jack with two RCA plugs that can be found for less than $5. Disconnect the two audio cables (red & white) from the converter provided with the problematic software.
Do not disconnect the converter from the USB port because the video signal will still go through there, afterwards.
Join these two cables to the ¼ jack wire and plug this jack into an access port on your sound card (like mic or headphones). Under Vista, then go to audio settings and configure the port in question under "line input" and activate it. To simplify access later, you can set it as "default".
Then open the super software (the problematic one) and this time you should see your new "line" input in the dropdown list, choose it. And Bingo!
Well, it sounds complicated like that but it's actually very simple, you'll see.
And to think they say in 3 steps on the box... The problem is still active, but this method will allow you to capture despite this huge software bug.
Have fun!
I would like you to let me know if you succeeded with this method...
Thank you

Do you not know what I mean by a "jack"?
You will see a picture in the article on this topic in my personal blog!

Hello,
You surely have the same issue as USB vinyl players users, like ITT Ion.
The problem can be resolved by going through:
"Adjust Audio Properties" then
"Sound and Audio Devices Properties".
In the audio tab, make the right choice.
Happy recording.-

Same goes for me with Windows Vista. Try going to the Device Manager in "Sound, video and game controllers." There is a device that is surely the one corresponding to the USB conversion key. Uninstall it and do (Action menu) "Scan for hardware changes." On my side, it reinstalled a device but this time not with the same name, and I had the option for this device in the list in the software.

Thank you, ALLO! It also works on seven! Great, I had the same sound problem. Audio device not recognized.
Go to Control Panel/Hardware and Sound/Device Manager.
Uninstall the problematic sound controller (right click).
Then right click to scan for hardware changes.
By launching the application "SOS videocassettes", a new audio device appears "line USB audio device".
Don’t hesitate to check and uncheck "Enable audio preview", it doesn’t always work on the first try.
Happy capturing!

Hello,
Same problem, I'm saving the image but not the sound, on a laptop with Windows XP
Has anyone found a solution?
Thank you -
Hello everyone,
First, I apologize for bringing this thread back up, but despite having "done" everything that has been very well said above, I'm still having the same issue with "Save your video tapes":
The software was working very well until last week after receiving the message "updates...". I downloaded them and restarted the PC as indicated. And since that day, I have neither sound nor image from the VCR, yet the PC does display "your hardware is ready to use" when I plug in the USB 2861 Device.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software at least 4 times because each time I get the same message "updates...".
I uninstalled and reinstalled the USB 2861 Device as suggested above.
I sent a message to the technical support of MicroApplication, but I never received a response.
So if a kind soul happens to pass by, thank you in advance if they could guide me.
Best regards.-

I absolutely confirm what Beinat said; I myself sent three emails in a month and have received no response to date, no technician. I went to the Rue des Petits Hôtels in Paris, the direct sales shop... They gave me an email to correspond with, and I didn't get a response either... Note that they are just soup merchants, they buy the technology and hardware and sell it under their brand... The worst of the worst...
El Gato would be better, but there are other problems. I have tried a lot of transfer equipment that I sometimes returned (El Gato, ADS... Etc), others that I kept, but to date I haven't found anything perfect for transferring VHS... -

Hello Skan,
I also bought this Micro Application software, version 3 compatible with w8, on March 15, 2013. I have the same problem: I have the video and sound on the computer, but as soon as I press the red "record" button, playback stops and nothing happens.
Don't expect any help from Micro Application's customer service: this problem is recurring and customer service does not respond to any emails. Response within 72 hours... you can imagine.
Do like me, when you have wasted a lot of time trying everything, change suppliers and too bad for your 60 euros; they won’t be lost for everyone.
Best regards,

Hello everyone, I just bought and installed this software "save your tapes" as well, the picture and sound of the personal movie on the VHS tape is impeccable when played on the software, but once I click on RECORD, the image freezes or there is no image. What should I do? Thanks (with W7-32mb)

Hello,
I also bought "Save Your VHS Tapes" a few days ago, but I'm unable to get any picture. I have neither image nor sound after trying everything. I followed the procedure to the letter, uninstalled and reinstalled the software. I have tried over and over again. I have two computers, one with Windows 7 and another with Windows 8, and I have the same problems.
I contacted Micro Application, and they told me to uninstall and write the link they sent me. Nothing works. Still nothing. I chose the option with RCA cables, I switched PAL (for Europe) to NSTC, etc. It is well and truly connected, but nothing. I see that several people are having difficulties.
I followed the suggestion of "leroidupc", which was to uninstall the device in video controller, sound. No change.
Is there anyone who has tried something else and succeeded in doing something with this software?
Thank you.
