UMD Reader Noise PSP

Good evening,
The UMD reader on my PSP is very noisy but it works; it makes very loud high-pitched noises for a few seconds during game loading and also when starting the UMD.
I just wanted to get your opinion on whether anyone else has the same issue and if it's serious or not.

    Hi,
    Don't worry, it's normal, it doesn't matter.

Hello sheva55, but I have a PSP 3000 and I just bought it new, and when loading GTA: Vice City Stories and Liberty City Stories, there's a kind of crackling, or rubbing noise, something like that. It's not loud enough to drown out the talking but it's quite audible. And I hear this noise occasionally while I'm playing. Is this normal? It's brand new...

My mine makes noise, it is new, so it bothers me. Thank you.

Alright, it's normal. Mine is almost 3 years old and it makes noise too, but it doesn't risk anything, don't worry.

Ok, thanks, that reassures me. But anyway, I wonder where it comes from because the people around me who have a PSP don't have that noise.

As you say it's an old thing, maybe it comes from there; otherwise, it doesn't bother me at all and I don't even notice that noise sometimes...

Actually, I never usually use UMD, but a friend lent me some games and I had the bad surprise, plus everyone is asleep and the walls are made of cardboard.

You're still on the PSP x) switching to the PS3 is better, and don't worry, that noise is nothing. I had the same thing on my old PSP too.
