Hello,
on my TOMTOM, I have the 'security lock' preventing me from entering a new address!
how do I remove this security
what is its purpose? 
Configuration: Windows Vista Internet Explorer 7.0

    To disable the security lock on TOM TOM GPS devices, proceed as follows:

    In the main menu, click on "modify preferences"
    Then, access the "Security Preferences" menu.
    Uncheck the box "Hide most menu options while driving"

    And there you go.

    but I have the manual and of course the device is not 'stolen'
    I searched but couldn't find a section on "security lock"
    so I'm stuck with this intermittent issue
    sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't

      Good evening, I just had the same problem so I turned off my GPS and turned it back on half an hour later and then I was able to enter a new address.

    A big thank you to everyone. I was able to unlock my husband remotely, panicking in Paris!

    However, this doesn't explain why this function was activated when we didn't even know how to access the security preferences menu!

    Security helps protect the GPS against theft.
    For how to do this: see your MANUAL.
    If you have neither, it has been stolen.

    Use the security lock
    To make driving with your TomTom ONE even safer, activate the
    Security Lock in the Preferences menu.
    You can choose to activate the security lock. In this case, only
    a few buttons and features will be available while you
    drive. When you stop, all buttons and features will be
    available again.
    You can also choose to disable the map display.
    For more information, see Security Lock on page 32.

    Touch this button to set your security preferences:
    * Security Lock
    * Disable map mode
    Security Lock
    When you activate the security lock, you can no longer access all
    the buttons and features of your ONE while you drive.
    The main menu only displays the buttons that can be useful to you
    while driving.
    As soon as your car stops, you can access all the buttons
    and features again.
    Disable map mode
    When you disable map mode, instead of seeing your position on the map in
    Driving mode, you will only see the next instruction.
    When you touch this button, you need to specify when the map should be
    disabled. Here are the three options:
    * Always - you will only see the next instruction and the arrows. The
    map will never be displayed.
    * At a certain speed - allows you to set the speed at which the map
    will need to be disabled. When you drive fast, the map can distract you.
    * Never: the map is always active.

    I have the same problem with the security lock, even the TomTom GPS vendors don't know how to unlock it.
    Do you know how to do it?
