    hello,
on some Toshibas to enable wifi you have to:
    > start> programs > Toshiba > utilities > Toshiba HW...

i’m saying this from memory so.....

    I already did it.
    it's a wifi activation problem.
normally this is done with a shortcut (fn-f8) but it’s disabled on Windows XP SP3.

I have the same problem with the function keys. There is a switch on the front face that allows you to enable Wi-Fi.

Hi! I had exactly the same problem as you
I had Vista on my Toshiba L500-13Z and overnight Windows wouldn’t start
long story short I had to reinstall and I put on Seven and none of the drivers WORKED!!!
so I could no longer activate my wifi card using fn+f8. I checked every forum on the subject but found nothing and I had to install some drivers:
      Flash Cards Support Utility
and it’s only after installing that that the bar came back and I recovered wifi
there you go I hope that will help you
      bye bye ;)

I confirm: after re-installing Windows 7, it was necessary to provide the various drivers and utilities required for the L500; the Realtek 8191SE WiFi chip driver, the Value Added Package, the webcam driver, and despite that, the Fn+F keys were working except Fn+F8 to turn off the WIFI. It was only after installing Flash Cards Support Utility that I was able to turn the WIFI off and on. Brunac.

After reinstalling the operating system on my TOSHIBA L550 I couldn't get the FN+F8 (enable wifi - disable wifi) and FN+F9 (enable/disable touchpad) keys to work. I managed to get them working by installing these drivers:

    - TOSHIBA Hotkey utility
    - TOSHIBA value added package

these drivers are on Toshiba's site
here's the site you need to fill in: https://fr.dynabook.com/support/drivers/

Thank you for your responses. The problem persists; I can't find the drivers. It tells me it can't locate them even though I entered the serial number of my computer. Thank you for your responses!!

The solution is simple: FN+F8+F8 and then release everything. Best regards
