Hello,

I have a problem with my wifi card. I have a Freebox HD and a Toshiba P200 with an Atheros AR5007EG chip running Vista.
My father created a network with a Toshiba Qosmio and a desktop computer. We configured the router on Free, it worked for a week, and since Saturday my PC won't connect to the network anymore! Why?
Moreover, my father has no problem at all!!!
I don't understand, and to be honest, I don't know much about computers!!! Please help me, it has been a week that I'm struggling with my father and the computer, I can't take it anymore, help me please!!!
Thanks in advance
Configuration: Windows Vista Internet Explorer 7.0

I had the same issue and here’s my breakthrough, I went to see if there were new drivers and boom, downloaded and installed it, it works
    go here >> http://www.station-drivers.com/page/atheros.htm

download the driver, unzip it and click on the .exe
after that, well like magic it connects :) yay

    Hello,
I have a problem with the AR5007 EG WIRELESS NETWORK ADAPTER; Windows Vista has stopped this device because it has problems (code 43). I have a Toshiba P200 series PC.
Thank you for helping me resolve this issue.

    Hello,

I had a similar problem. I tried a lot of things (testing other Wi-Fi hotspots besides my Freebox, a complete reinstall of Vista...). The issue is with Windows Vista!

Out of desperation, I installed XP (quite a hassle, you need to create a special installation CD with the SATA driver using nLite...) and since then everything works...

    Hello everyone.
    I have a portable PC P200 1IF and an Atheros AR5007EG Wi-Fi card.
Just like you, it disappears from the device manager.
Even Toshiba has no solution and no patch or update exists.
I'm really frustrated, it's been two days since I got my PC.
    Moreover, I just changed it!!
The solution is to restart by holding down F2
then reset to default settings and save
your card will reappear.... for how long, I don't know.
If anyone has more info, I'm interested.
    Thank you.

    Hi!
    I'm in the same situation:
    P200-1BY (so Toshiba Satellite...)
AR5007 EG WIRELESS NETWORK ADAPTER as well
Freebox V5 in router mode too (the V5 has nothing to do with it anyway)

And after 5 months of good and loyal service, I can no longer connect via WiFi, networks are visible but I can't access them (total reset of the box, testing WiFi network channels ...).
No, indeed, there is a problem with OS support (attempt to automatically recover drivers under Vista, manually, etc.).
    In short, it's a hassle!
    I'm looking for a solution...

    Hello,

    the factory reset should work.
    I know it's a hassle, but it's probably a Windows issue.

So here it is, I hope to provide a solution to the problem. I have an Acer 5520G equipped with an Atheros AR5007EG card running Vista and, like many people, at first glance, I was unable to connect to my Freebox via a WPA key, so I resigned myself to connecting via Ethernet. However, today I did a bit of digging in the Windows services to try to lighten my processes. And this evening, by unplugging my cable, I realized that the connection was still there, and I noticed that the Wi-Fi was working. After some research, it appears that it works when the "IP Assistance" service, which manages IPv6, is disabled. I hope this will last and be useful to many people if that's the case.

Hello, I read the topic about the Atheros WiFi issue and I have the same problem.
But where exactly is the place to disable IPv6 IP assistance that you mentioned on April 21??
Does it actually work or not?

      Hello
I confirm that I was unable to connect via Wi-Fi with an ACER equipped with the Atheros AR5007 card, and by following Zeti's advice, it works now (I can't commit to how long it will last, I just did the manipulation barely 10 minutes ago...)

      Procedure to follow:
1- Go to Start / Settings / Network Connections
2- In the window that opens, right-click on "wireless network connection," select "Properties" from the context menu, and in the window that opens, uncheck "Internet Protocol version 6 (TCP/IPv6)"
3- Click OK, wait 15 seconds, and try to reconnect...

      Good luck

        Hello!

I followed your advice, but I am totally desperate; it doesn't work!!!
I have a Toshiba with Vista Home Premium, and my card is also an Atheros AR5007EG
I can connect to the Freebox but without internet access
No problems with other boxes (9, Alice, Live...)
        If anyone can help me???
        THANK YOU

        Hi
Have you activated the router function of the Freebox?

I suppose it must be active because other computers can connect to my box via Wi-Fi
otherwise, how do you do it?
I can connect to the box but I don't have access to the internet.

Try increasing the advanced parameter of the Scan Valid Interval on the card to, for example, 120. After analyzing the logs on my PC, I concluded that the card is quite slow and setting this value to 120 (previously 60) provided a direct connection.

    I hope this helps you!

This is an Atheros AR5007EG with Windows XP SP3 and a Fujitsu Siemens PC.

      Thank you kStarBe.
      It works perfectly now.
For your information, it was on a Toshiba Satellite / Pentium Dual Core / Vista Premium Edition configuration.

    Hi,
I just read your message on the forum and I would like to know how to access the advanced parameter of the scan valid interval to set it to 120.
I have an Acer Aspire 7220 laptop that originally comes with the Atheros AR5007EG wireless card and Windows Vista Premium Edition...
I'm tired of my card disconnecting or connecting on its own...
Thanks in advance to all the good souls who will be willing to help me...

I forgot to mention that I am connected via Wi-Fi to my Neuf Box and that I have a desktop PC with Windows XP Home connected to my Neuf Box via Ethernet.
And if by any chance you could help me share my folders between the two computers as well as my printer that is connected to my desktop PC, I would be grateful...

    Hello,

If each computer communicates with the 9box, we can configure a network.
Click on the connection icon of the first PC and note its IP address, display the properties and go to TCP/IP protocol and double-click.
Choose to use the following address
    and enter
    the IP noted above
    Subnetwork 255.255.255.0
    Gateway 192.168.1.1
    Preferred DNS 192.168.1.1
Do the same on the other PCs.
Then configure the firewalls of each computer by allowing the IP addresses of all computers on the network both inbound and outbound (i.e., enter the 2 IP addresses of PC1 and PC2 on each computer).
Next, on each PC, create a home network or small business network, making sure to put each computer in the same workgroup (properties of the workstation - computer name - modify).
Finally, on each computer, share folders, printers, etc.

    For Aniki86,

go to network connections, right-click on the Atheros card, go to the general section, then the configuration button for the card, and in the Advanced properties, at the end of the list, you will find the setting.

As for interconnecting the PCs, there are plenty of sites that can help you, if the Windows assistant doesn't manage to do it.

I had quite a few issues with my wireless network. After an update of the router and extending the delay described above, it got better, but I also had a virus that was likely influencing the situation (constant dropouts).

Installed Avast, ran a full scan, eradicated the pest, and since then, it's been a real charm.

It's up to you to check if that's not the case...

I had the same problem with a Toshiba Satellite P200.
The problem came from the choice in the Wi-Fi options for Free.
I had selected channel 10 as the channel choice to get my other Asus laptop working, with which I had no problems.
I checked the "automatic channel" box and now the Freebox wireless network is clearly visible and I connect without any issues.
What is surprising is that it is not possible to choose the channel in the hardware configuration of the Atheros AR5007EG Wireless card at the advanced settings level, which is not the case with my Asus where it is easy to choose the Wi-Fi channel.
