Hello,

A friend I've known for 2 years (only online, I've never met him) asked me yesterday if I wanted to become a moderator on his website similar to Facebook.

He offered me a permanent contract with a monthly salary of €2000.
Then he asked me for my place of residence to send me the contract, and he asked me to send it back with a bank account details, the signed contract, and a photocopy of my identity card, both sides.

So, before I venture into the unknown, I would like to know what you think about it? I would appreciate a quick response, please.

You should first check the site to see if it works or not. Check the company's status, whether the company is in its name or not.

However, it's quite normal for a company to ask you for a photocopy of your ID, your social security number, to register you, and a bank account details to pay you.

I wouldn't trust them. Or if they have the money to pay you 2000 euros a month without knowing or having seen you, these guys should be able to take a plane, train, or car to come see you, right?

Open another bank account, refuse any debit from your account without your signature on a check.... Talk to your bank, you only want money coming in, but nothing going out of the country or from France!!! I think that can be done with the bank. So don't take a checkbook, because if checks come in, they are not yours. You can then transfer money from one account to another. Explain the situation to the bank and make sure you are covered for any possible nonsense from these people.

+1 that's reasonable and secure
also fabrice, normally if it's credible, it won't surprise him that you want guarantees, (your caution is reasonable) so you can ask him for all sorts of documents, it's personal evidence, the contract should have the SIRET number, etc...
basically, find guarantees about the person if it were to go to court,
and it might also be worthwhile, from a professional standpoint, to meet him in person.

Ask the moderators at CCM, I think they'll tell you the rest ^^

As for the bank account details, however, it's the usual employer/employee procedures (with an employment contract)
