For everyone; functioning of Meetic:
You register; it's free; your profile goes online, and you can see the online profiles.
But these profiles might belong to people who, like us, registered for free.
One profile interests us; we contact them; the person receives an email saying that someone is interested in their profile.
If they want to "follow", they must then pay. And the same goes for the other person.
If either party refuses to subscribe; no connection is made.
Hence --> the impression of dealing with fake profiles (non-existent).
And you can receive emails for two or three months:
"Toto, Mimi, Lulu, Jojo"; are interested in your profile.
Since there are many more people registered "for free",
Those who paid have a much better chance of seeing their profile, and if they don't subscribe, the inquiry remains unanswered.
Those Americans are clever....

but the profiles I was talking about are "Premium Member: Contact them for free!"
so in principle we can check who made the payment
but Meetic doesn't care, they collect the money without protecting their members

there are other sites that are completely free, that work as poorly/well, but you don't lose money

I do not share most of the comments.

I have made some nice friends, at this stage friendly but not virtual, and had other great exchanges. It is normal to pay for a service that, for the basic plan, only costs €60 for 6 months.

It is also true that many people, like those giving testimonials, register for free, which only contributes to this type of dissatisfaction: the free option only allows you to communicate with more expensive profiles or to "only stay in front of the window" without being able to interact...

It is true that there are fake profiles... especially when it's free.

Normally, this isn't much of a problem anymore. There are few fake profiles on Meetic, and they get deleted quickly.

Same for me on Easy Flirt, about 15 spam messages a day from women in Ivory Coast with Skype and email addresses.

The most surprising thing is that upon my registration I received at least 10 messages from women in my town. I later found out through a response from one that it wasn’t her sending them; it’s the site that sends fake messages without people knowing, and I wasn’t the only one to be warned about it.

So don’t be surprised if an elderly lady of 65 sends you, "I love enjoying life and especially not overthinking," it’s the dating site trying to entice you to register and respond to fake messages to pocket as much money as possible.
