NVIDIA Boot Agent 249.0542 Solved

Question

Hello,

Well, I repaired my computer by equipping it with a new hard drive and a new processor; the processor is working well, but there is a problem with the hard drive.

When I turn on my computer, I see the system screen (manufacturer), namely ACER (it's an Aspire 5520), so I have:

Regarding the check cable, we must be talking about an IDE cable, but there isn't one in the laptop.

Well, I have another Acer computer and I put the hard drive that I recently bought (WD Scorpio Blue) in it and it works perfectly, my BIOS is not locked, I have full access to it but it says "HHD: None"

My motherboard is still the manufacturer's one, how do I flash my BIOS? Is it legal?

your BIOS is locked, meaning it is a version that can only be used with original hardware; it requires a key that is located on your old hard drive. To remove it, you need to flash the BIOS with a version from the motherboard manufacturer if it exists.

Your disk is not recognized in the BIOS? So it's a bad connection of the hard drive or its power supply.

I went to the Acer website:

There are ZIP files for the BIOS, but I don't really understand how to install them.

EDIT: I tried to mount a HITACHI ACER hard drive on it, but it is not recognized either, it still says "check cable," but I don't think there's an IDE in a laptop, or if there is, it's well hidden.

I downloaded the BIOS V.33, and there is this line in the readme:

Fixed the SATA HDD lost issue, program SATA PLL to 133MHz

The only problem is, how do I access the DOS commands to run the *.bat file?

If you don't have the DOS program in the archive, you also need to download it onto a floppy disk or a USB drive along with the update to boot from it.

Yes, but I tried this hard drive on another Acer system with the same configuration except that the processor is an Athlon and it works...

Put the old processor back and update the BIOS, then you will be able to read the inscription on the processor to see if it's a Turion or Athlon, and that way you’ll have a solid foundation to restart in case it needs to be exchanged, you won't have wasted your time.

A bit impossible for the old processor, I had to change it due to it overheating. I don't think the technician upgraded it. I'm going to try to buy an Athlon so he can install it for me.

It's all good, I called ACER, I spoke with a lovely person who helped me throughout the process.  The computer is now working perfectly.  Long live ACER technical support.

Everyone who talks to you about the BIOS is just saying nonsense.
It's a problem with a corrupted master boot (defective) and you can no longer access your Windows. There are data recovery software available on the market. My advice is to buy an external hard drive for storage, just in case.

So, I had the problem:

I managed to find the ACER FREE HOTLINE number: 09.69.32.03.42 where I spoke with a nice person who resolved the issue in 10 minutes.

First step:

1/ Press F2 at startup and check:

HDD Model Name: NONE (if this is the case, that's where the problem comes from)

2/ Press F9 then OK
3/ Press F10 then OK again

The PC will restart, if the error message appears again, do this:
1/ Turn off your PC, unplug your charger, then remove the battery from the PC.

2/ Still without the battery, hold the POWER button for a good TWENTY seconds then release.

3/ Put the battery back in place.
Turn your PC back on
4/ Press F2 at startup to see if HDD Model Name is no longer followed by "NONE" but rather by a serial number.
5/ F10

There you go, I hope it works for you like it did for me.

For your information, I have an ACER ASPIRE 5520G.
