I have a little problem at startup. The message that appears is as follows:

Intel (R) Boot Agent GE v1.3.65
Client mac addr: 54 04 ... Guid: ...
PXE-E53: No boot filename received

PXE-MOF: Exiting Intel Boot Agent.

Reboot and Select proper Boot device
or insert Boot media in selected Boot device and press key.

Well, I'm not very good with computers, I went into the BIOS to select the boot device. I have the choice between samsung hd103sj, Plextor dvdr px-l890sa, or iba ge slot 00c8 v1365 (this is in this order of boot priority). But it won’t boot from the hard drive.

Should I then proceed to the Windows CD and repair? If so, how?
Could someone please give me information about this issue?

Hello!

I have another question. Once the Windows CD is started, in the system recovery window, my OS does not show up. In this same window, it states that if the OS does not appear, I can manually add drivers. And here's my question: which driver(s) are we talking about? Would reinstalling drivers allow the OS to be detected again?

Similarly, I would like to launch a system restore but I can't since the OS is not found.

I have the impression that it's the OS and not the HDD that has a problem? What should I do?

Hi,
the PC is booting badly.
So what you have done is check in the BIOS to see if it recognizes the devices and apparently it does.
A HDD and a DVD drive.
The boot order is important, you're right.
1st HDD
2nd CD

To change the boot order just for one time, you don’t need to enter the BIOS but you need to find the boot key, which is usually F12.

It's written on the startup page, usually at the bottom of the first logo.

This allows you to boot from whatever you want with the boot key.

So now we have a problem booting the HDD, still try with the boot key but normally you will crash anyway.

You will need it to reinstall Windows and boot from the CD/DVD or other devices without changing anything in the BIOS.

So it could either be the cable: there are two, the power cable for the HDD and a SATA or IDE cable.
It might really be a faulty cable; to test it, you just have to swap them with the DVD.

Or the hard drive could be dead...

Reinstalling if the HDD doesn't work shouldn't be possible... let's leave that solution for last^^

Hi, indeed now instead of "no boot filename received" it’s telling me to check the cables (which apparently are not faulty). I’ll try that, but I don’t really understand why that part of the message changed since last night. ^^

Hello again, I reversed the cables which doesn’t change the problem. I tried to insert the Windows installation CD to perform the repair. In the system recovery window, my operating system does not appear. However, when I go to add drivers, I have access to my hard drive.

I found a tutorial that indicates how to repair the boot with the Windows installer. I partitioned part of the hard drive to create a boot (sorry for the terms, I’m not sure if I’m being clear). Since I couldn't choose the operating system, it only launches the CD drive. In any case, it detects the HDD and the CD drive.

Do I need to reinstall Windows? If so, will the photo/video folders I have on the HDD be preserved?
