TPM Security on ASUS

Solved

Hello, In the manual for my ASUS X5BVN-SX059C laptop, it states that TPM security must be enabled in the BIOS for the fingerprint reader software to launch automatically. This line is missing from my BIOS, so I called their customer service to find a fix. The person I spoke with told me to download the new BIOS version, which I had already done, but when I asked how to update the BIOS once the file is downloaded from their site, he told me to ask someone who knows: “You don’t know, sir, and I understand. But ask someone who knows.” “Yes, that’s why I’m calling customer service…” Anyway, I’m sharing the conversation with a man who probably got his job by pure chance. I managed to update this BIOS in the end; you just had to try, but I was afraid of messing things up, so I preferred to ask… but that made no difference, version 217 also does not include this line, and the software “security protect manager Wizard” cannot be found on my hard drive. Do you have a solution? Thanks in advance ;)

    hi.
    not changing the Asus S.O.S. much. :)

    you need two things.

    the files of the new BIOS (available from Asus).

    and a utility that isn’t available for download (strange).

    otherwise you should be able to flash directly from the BIOS (F2 key).

    extract your BIOS files to the C: root and reboot by going into your BIOS.
    you should find a tool called "flashutil" or something like that. navigate with this tool to the folder where your .bin file is located
    and -> flash.

    but according to the BIOS file descriptions from Asus, nothing indicates this will solve your TPM chip issue.

    but hey.

    ps: make sure your PC is plugged in before starting the flash.

    ps2: you might also have a drivers/utilities CD, and it’s possible you have a software named
    <aflash2 utility=""> which is intended for flashing under Windows.
