I'm also using a non-original headset to go running...
I solved the problem by plugging and unplugging the headset. In the female jack connectors, there is a sensor to detect the presence or absence of the earphone. I suspect it's stuck even after removing the headset. Plug and unplug your headset or the original one several times to ensure that the sensor (a piece of black plastic logically) returns to the position without the headset. At worst, take a needle and poke it. The sensor is located at the bottom right when the phone screen is facing up. You can also blow into it to remove any dust.
There you go, hoping everything gets back in order as easily as it did for me.

Same problem on my phone, it's indeed the headphone jack that's causing issues. I did use the earbuds that came with the phone though? I repeated the process of plugging and unplugging the earbuds while twisting the jack a bit and everything went back to "normal". I'm worried that this might be the weak point of the Galaxy; for now, I'm putting aside the earbuds to avoid any risk. Good luck!

I have the same problem. Putting on and taking off the headset does not solve my issue.
However, there is no problem making calls through the headset.

I will try to clean that port.

For your information, the problem occurred after 2 months of use.
I changed the original headset (which doesn't fit in my ear), but I don't think that's the cause.

The hotline suggested a SIM change :-)

Hello everyone, we agree that it's the headphone jack sensor that remains engaged, so I "tweaked" that famous sensor with a needle, and indeed, it works; since then, I've been using the headset less frequently, it's a bit frustrating but the phone still works very well. I had the same problem. Last night I was watching a movie on my Galaxy with the original headset. As soon as I removed the headset, there was no sound coming from the "calls" speaker (the one you put your ear against to listen to the caller ramble), and no sound coming from the rear speaker for media and so on... so the problem was quickly identified, it wasn't an issue with the speakers, but rather with the headphone jack sensor.
Lucky for me, I work in a lab and we have these kinds of swab sticks that look like cotton buds.
What I recommend is indeed to "tickle" the sensor as some of you have suggested above, but especially to pay attention to this: in my case, there was a tiny clump of dust in the headphone jack. When I plugged in the headset, I pushed it down to the bottom... so you not only need to tickle the thing, but especially to be careful to remove the dust that is there (for example with a bit of alcohol on a cotton bud) because otherwise it just builds up and builds up, etc...
Result: by tickling, it worked one time out of four. By removing the dust with a cotton bud, the jack works like it did initially, it perfectly detects when the headset is plugged in and unplugged every time.
Samsung's problem is therefore: put a cap at the end of the jack!!!

I've had this issue since this afternoon (only the original headset) and I thought before sending the phone for repair for an indefinite period, surely someone has the solution online!!

Indeed Denis, solidarity pays off, I had the same problem, I searched for a long time thinking that I had installed an application that had muted the sound, and then I plugged and unplugged a headset, and everything returned to normal.

I have a similar problem. The phone rings but I can't hear my caller, and they can't hear me either. But I can send and receive texts.
I dropped off my phone at Bouygues where I noticed I also had no sound on videos. On the way back, I think I found the issue. I'm pretty sure the headset sensor is stuck on. I remember using the headset before I noticed the problem. The phone rings, which is normal, while the headset is connected, but all other sounds are muted! I'm going back to Bouygues tonight before they send it off for repair...

Hello, you are absolutely right about the headphone jack, that’s where the problem lies. I just went for a run for an hour with my phone and earbuds in, I got home, took out the headphones (not original), and now there’s no sound when I’m on a call with someone, I’ve diagnosed the issue but don’t know how to fix it since when I remove the headphones, there’s no sound of the usual notification, it’s like the headphones are still plugged in, so what should I do? Have you resolved this issue? Please respond because it's really a hassle and I don’t want to leave my phone with a repair service for 1 or 2 months!!! Thanks again, have a great day!! Keuvtar

I also have a problem with the headset connection... well, I had one because the original headset no longer works (1 month of use is a bit short!). When you move the plug slightly while watching a video, the music starts playing by itself... does anyone else have this problem?

it's a hassle, we have to struggle with our headset (for me, it's the connection to my Passat that's causing the problem)..
However, my issue goes further because this morning the problem came back even though I haven't connected it for at least a week!!

The problem is that I was without my car all day and had no way to call all day long!! not cool!!
