Hello,
I have a problem with my Sony Ericsson W995 (it is only 2 months old)
First, it no longer recognized my SIM card,
Then it recognized it without giving me access to the network
Now it no longer recognizes its OWN battery, I don't understand!!!
Is anyone in the same situation as me???
What should I do?????
Thank you for your advice and responses

For those who encounter the same issue, I found the solution =)
I specify that this solution works with all Sony Ericsson models available on the market since the software used is signed by Sony Ericsson itself.
Go to the following page and follow the instructions provided by the software:
https://www.sony.net/SonyInfo/Support/
The operation is a bit lengthy but very simple. Enjoy.-

It worked for me too. Fortunately, I had the same reflex as with my GPS or USB stick and other future devices that bug: look up the problem on the internet and see if others have managed to solve it. Successfully, THANK YOU! And although I thought about saving them, I didn't even lose the images and photos from my phone.

Hello everyone! THANK YOU SO MUCH to person 6901, comment from October 22, 2009: I had exactly the same problem and thanks to their advice, I downloaded the Sony Ericsson program and my phone is working perfectly again! My phone no longer recognized the SIM card, kept rebooting and found no network (and, by the way, all my messages had also been deleted, what a NUISANCE!!!). Finally, when I plugged it into the charger, it told me the same thing: "the battery is not charging, please insert a Sony Ericsson battery." I went to the Orange shop and another store... WITHOUT SUCCESS! All the salespeople claimed - with their many years of experience OBVIOUSLY! - that my phone was dead because the battery had gotten wet (the moisture sensor that all phone batteries have had turned red... irrefutable proof according to them that it had been in contact, closely or otherwise, with water... tssss... nonsense!!!) and that there was NO way to fix it!!! I'm going to go prove them wrong this afternoon! THANK YOU AGAIN!!! Forums are great! Long live 6901 and long live the web that allows us to debug those little electronic hassles of everyday life! (... maybe a plan for winning EuroMillions numbers? lol) :):):)

Thank you to 6901, I had the same problem, I downloaded the recommended software and it seems to be working. I will see over time, my phone is 1 month old and Orange has changed it 3 times, they don't understand. They should really go back to learning their trade!!!
Thanks again and long live the forums.

Exactly the same problem, first it doesn't recognize the SIM card anymore, then it recognizes it, restarts 3 times, and finally finds no network (by the way, all my messages and contacts have been deleted). Finally, when I plug it into the wall, it says "the battery is not charging, please insert a Sony Ericsson battery."
It's desperate coming from a new phone, especially knowing the price it cost me.
If someone has a solution before it goes out the window, I'm all ears =) -
I confirm that the Sony Ericsson software update program works for this kind of incident.
I experienced the same symptoms not later than July 3, 2010 /
Upon turning it on in the morning, no network, inactive keyboard keys (no way to enter the PIN) - the phone shuts down by itself / strange background / in short, a mess /
In a state of despair and before returning it to the store (as it was under warranty), I downloaded the update software, installed it, and started the update /
It is important to follow the instructions:
the most delicate part is that you have to keep pressing the "c" key while connecting the USB cable to the phone and wait. After a while, on the W995, an image appears symbolizing the connection between the computer and the phone /
Then, the download of the new software (or firmware of the phone) begins (about 113 MB) and then the installation of said firmware takes place on the phone.
After disconnecting the W995 from the USB cable, you remove the battery, put it back, and turn the phone on, it says to be patient and, again, it's quite long but miracle, you find your phone back to its original state /
Count 20 minutes with a good connection of 3 - 4 megabits
Now, if the battery is completely empty, then it gets complicated. But I have seen that you can connect the charger and add the USB cable on top.
Otherwise, unless you charge the battery with another device of the same type, or have a spare battery, I don't see any other solution...
Now as for why this kind of bug occurs, I don't know...
I just sent the question to Sony.-

I had the same problem two weeks ago: no more network and battery not recognized.
After trying just about everything, I was about to buy another phone when I came across this forum. A HUGE THANK YOU to 6901 and librio62, after updating the software, I can connect again and charge the battery.
Long live the forums!

Hello, I have the exact same problem as you with my w995.
I tried to update via update service, but it tells me that I already have the latest software version.
So I don't want to stress about it, I plan to flash it, but the problem is that to flash it you need battery power, and because of this bug, I can't recharge it... vicious circle! I must have about 50% battery left, but I'm hesitant to proceed because if the phone turns off during the flash, that could cause damage. So what should I do? Thanks. -

My problem is quite recent. I use my phone frequently as usual, the battery ran out, and when I got home, I plugged it in. My phone then told me, "Your phone's battery is not charging, please insert a Sony Ericsson battery." So I installed the PC Suite or whatever Update, but the connection is not working. In fact, the tab on the edge of the battery has turned from white to red. The website https://www.sony.net/SonyInfo/Support/ warns that the battery is damaged... well, let's go to customer service.

Hello!
I had the same problem as you, my Sony Ericsson C702 no longer recognizes its own battery, even though I changed it with the identical model, impossible to recharge...
So I downloaded the free Sony Ericsson PC Companion software, then it's quite simple, you go to phone update, it offers you to "repair phone," it suggests quite a few models, you choose yours and, like magic, my phone finally recognizes its battery... There you go! -

Good evening,
I just read all your messages, and I just had exactly the same problem with my c 903!!
I was in the middle of writing a text message, and all of a sudden, nothing!
I turned it off, turned it back on, and there are no texts, the "ok" and "menu" icons are a different color... etc
I tried the software you put online, but no matter how much I press "c", nothing... Cable problem?! I didn't have one when I bought the phone. The one I have is a cable for all Sonys.
I'm really frustrated!! Please help me!!
Thanks to everyone!!

The solution to the problem is that the middle pin or the battery is connected incorrectly, which causes it not to be recognized properly.
