Thunderbird sending issue (ISP: Wifirst)

Good evening,

I have recently subscribed to Wifirst, but the problem is that I don't know the SMTP address used by Wifirst, so I can't send messages from Thunderbird (however, there's no problem receiving them).
Does anyone know this SMTP address, please? I tried smtp.wifirst.fr, but it doesn't work...

Thanks in advance ;)

    Hello,
I'm bringing this topic back up since these suggestions didn't work for me.

I was okay with receiving, but not with sending, like the previous users, and after tinkering a bit, I finally managed to send my messages.
    My settings:

    Server name: smtp.wifirst.fr
    Port: 25
    Connection security: none
    Authentication method: password, unsecured transmission

What to put in the username?
I tried my email address with them but it didn't work.

In "username", I have everything that comes before the @ (I have an account with Free, I don't know if that changes anything).

Otherwise, I received a response from Wifirst which offers something else:

      "SMTP server: SMTP.WIFIRST.NET
      SMTP port: 465
      SSL SMTP: yes
SMTP authentication: YES (And be sure to indicate your Wifirst login/password and not those of the email box)"

      Wifirst's response works perfectly!
      Thank you!

As far as I'm concerned, I can send messages but not receive them.
Could you please tell me your settings for the incoming server (imap, apparently)?
      Thank you.

For the outgoing server, I have:

      server name: pop.free.fr
      port: 110
username: everything before the at sign

While searching a bit on the internet, I found a message from the Wifirst team that says:
"The required configuration for sending emails from our system
    is as follows:

    No SSL,

    No authentication,

    smtp.wifirst.fr

These different options are available in the sending settings of
    your email account.
    "
But reading the rest of the replies, it becomes clear that the smtp does not work, and that to make it work, one had to go through the smtp of another provider.

    Hello,

same problem but in Outlook 2007...

No matter the SMTP, it doesn't work...

I called Wifirst who couldn't solve this issue.

I receive emails just fine, but I can't send them ^^

However, the Outlook Live Connector module works. So I can send using my Live address (MAPI server) but that's not the goal! I have my main address with Neuf and I want to be able to use it.

Everything worked for two months and then nothing the next day. I called Neuf, did some manipulations and still nothing...

Two computers, one of which was reformatted today and neither can get it to work.

To note: during the FIRST setup of a new account, the first send works. After that, nothing on the SMTP connections. Standard error 0x80042109

No filtering, no security like WPA or SSL. (the Wifirst server refuses them)

If someone knows a bit about this, although I'm really not a novice, that would be appreciated ^^

The problem also appears in Windows Mail. Except here, no reception since there's no connection to the SMTP...

    Config:

    Vista 64
    Office 2007
USB Wi-Fi connection and native USB (laptop) on the (shitty) Wifirst network (highly discouraged if there are other choices...)

    One detail that puzzled me.
I went to the orange.fr site to check my mobile account and... I was already connected and recognized under a Wifirst account (????????)
Is it possible that a bug on their servers creates a conflict with the mail connection?? (it's not normal that I'm logged in as a Wifirst user at Orange without entering any identifier, without a password, and having never been there before...

Thank you for your responses ^^

I had a problem with Incredimail 2 for sending my messages via wifirst.

I solved it by going to:
options > email accounts > properties > servers > server information / outgoing mail server: smtp.wifirst.fr
Then outgoing mail server / uncheck "My server requires authentication".

    Finally:
options > email accounts > properties > Advanced > Server port numbers / uncheck "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)".

There you go, I hope this helps you.

    Good evening,
the SMTP you need to use is not Wifirst's, it's your internet service provider's. Here’s a small list taken from the internet:

    9 Telecom: smtp.neuf.fr
    Alice: smtp.alice.fr / or / smtp.aliceadsl.fr
    AOL: smtp.fr.aol.com
    Cegetel: smtp.cegetel.net
    Club Internet: mail.club-internet.fr
    Darty Box: smtpauth.dbmail.com
    Free: smtp.free.fr
    Freesurf: smtp.freesurf.fr
    Gmail: smtp.gmail.com
    Noos: mail.noos.fr
    Orange: smtp.orange.fr
    Tele2: smtp.tele2.fr
    Tiscali: smtp.tiscali.fr
    Wanadoo: smtp.wanadoo.fr

      I would add free
      SMTP server (outgoing mail): smtp.free.fr
      POP server (incoming mail): pop.free.fr
      IMAP server (incoming mail): imap.free.fr
I've been with Free for 3 days and set up my mailboxes on Wednesday; I stupidly forgot one of my passwords and received this code on Friday/Saturday, and my inbox was blocked because it hadn't been used in 2 days!!!
I can receive tons of emails, but they all come back to me via the mail delivery system!!! Free's support advised me to get another Windows or AOL, unbelievable, right???
But maybe that's what I really need to do after all; they provide the internet line with all the mess, but for the messaging... that may not be their strong suit!!!!
Thanks for the list; I don't really know how to configure these things, so it will help me, goodbye and good luck.
