Fnac Warranty Extension

Question

Hello,  Is there anyone among you who has taken the Fnac warranty extension? (3 years) Is it effective and advisable for purchasing laptops?

Especially do not take the FNAC warranty extension, it's a scam. Indeed, in December 2006, I bought a HP portable computer for 999.75 euros, which is normally and legally guaranteed for 1 year.
I took the comfort package for 2 years (warranty extension), which I paid 199 euros (20% of the purchase price).
For me, and given the price of the warranty extension, this should give me 3 years of warranty.
In July 2008 (19 months later), my computer broke down. The customer service worked well. They lent me a computer while my portable was immobilized and made the repair (replacement of 5 defective parts including the motherboard!!!). But it was under warranty.
Today, 9 months after the repair, my computer is down again.
FNAC tells me that it is no longer under warranty because my extension was actually only 1 year, giving me a total of 2 years of warranty (for 20% of the purchase price!!!!!)
and it would again be (according to HP that I contacted) the motherboard!!! Costing more than 400 euros!!!!!
If you want better warranty coverage, do not take the FNAC extension, but the manufacturer's warranty.
It's safer.
I think I will contact consumer protection because 1 additional year of warranty for 200 euros is outrageous!!!!

A LITTLE ANNOYED...
THE CAUSE: THE 3-YEAR WARRANTY EXTENSION AT FNAC...
IMPOSSIBLE TO REACH CUSTOMER SERVICE! AS FOR THEIR WEBSITE, THERE'S NO SECTION STATING SPECIFICALLY THE DAMAGES COVERED BY THIS DAMN EXTENSION FOR 249 EUROS!!!
I HAVE A BATTERY ISSUE WITH MY MACBOOK... I CAN ONLY USE IT PLUGGED IN... NOT IDEAL FOR A LAPTOP...
WHO HAS ALREADY ENCOUNTERED THIS PROBLEM??? WHAT IS THE SOLUTION APART FROM BUYING A NEW BATTERY FOR 139 EUROS?

There is no scam.. 2 solutions: either the seller misexplained it to you or you misread it.. indeed, the 2 or 3-year FNAC warranty replaces the original manufacturer's warranty. The difference:
manufacturer's warranty: 1 year, product repair, repair time about 1 month.
FNAC warranty: 2 years, in case of failure, replacement with a new product (only once, in the form of a credit note equal to the price of the product).
FNAC warranty: 3 years, in case of failure, replacement with a new product (in the form of a credit note equal to the price of the product) as many times as you want.

You should simply avoid buying from them.
On some websites, the products are guaranteed for 2 years by the manufacturer with accessories included.

Sometimes the prices are similar compared to Fnac, with that additional advantage of the other websites, but it is true that sometimes the products are more expensive on those sites. However, they offer better service and especially this manufacturer’s warranty, which is really interesting.

Furthermore, on those sites, the extension for the third year is approximately 70 euros for an Asus PC and less than 100 euros for MSI, which are the only two manufacturers to offer this 2-year warranty for their products.

So basically, sometimes it isn't worth saving on the product itself but rather looking beyond that.

I would like to share my experience regarding the 3-year warranty extension from Fnac. First of all, a piece of advice: don’t take it!
I bought a laptop with the warranty extension. After a while (more than a year), I started to hear noises, like a clicking sound + a flickering screen (the noise was coming from a misaligned fan...). I called Fnac's customer service, reported the problem, and they asked if there were any other issues with my PC. Being honest, I mentioned that one key was wobbly and not functioning properly... And then, the person on the phone told me that this was not covered by the warranty and that my contract was simply canceled... Naturally, I started to complain, and they told me to read my contract again, which indeed has a rather catch-all article, very vague and hard to contest...
So, feeling very disheartened, I went to Fnac some time later to look at laptops, and I spoke to a saleswoman who was "promoting" the warranty extension. Of course, I brushed her off after explaining my experience. It turned out that this saleswoman was genuinely concerned and told me that it wasn't normal, blah blah blah, and that she would check with her management. I’ll skip the details, but in the end, thanks in part to her, I managed to get a refund for my laptop to buy a new one (the warranty was reinstated).
Moral: for an unknown internal issue (which turned out to be the fan) and a flickering screen, they are willing to refund, but if a key doesn’t work, the warranty is canceled!

I was lucky, but honestly avoid this warranty extension!!
