Do you want to format at startup? here is the DOS command to format:
Format C: (replace C with the drive to format) and Enter.

Here is a procedure to restore your PC to factory settings without using CDs.
If it does not work, I’ll tell you how to do it with CDs.
1. Turn on your computer
or: If the computer is already on, turn it off, wait a moment and turn it back on.
2. During boot, press the F8 key at short intervals until the "Advanced Boot Options" menu appears. You may need to repeat this until you can open the menu.
3. In the "Advanced Boot Options" menu, the option "Repair your Computer" is offered. If it is not shown, use the up and down arrow keys to select "Repair your Computer" and press Enter.
4. As soon as Windows has loaded a few files, "System Recovery Options" appears. Under "Select a language" choose the language, and under "Choose a keyboard layout" select the keyboard layout you use. The language is usually automatically detected by the system and grayed out. Click "Next".
5. Under "User name", type the user name and the "Password". The user name is also offered in the dropdown menu, which you can access by clicking the black triangle. If you have not set a password for the selected user, leave the "Password" field empty. Then click "OK".
6. In the next menu "System Recovery Options" select the option "Fujitsu Siemens Computers Recovery" and the attached item "Easy backup and recovery of your system".
7. Select "Restore factory default settings" and click "Next".
8. In the "Restore factory default settings" menu, under "Select source", choose "From hard disk (recommended)", and confirm with "Next".
9. The following message warns that all data will be lost. After confirming this message, your system is restored. At the end of the restoration process, a completion message is displayed.
10. Select "Exit" to finish the process.

To format, that is to erase your Vista system and reinstall another Vista in its place, for example, you need a Vista installation DVD to buy commercially and boot from it.
If you already have this DVD, boot from it.
If you already have this DVD, boot from it.
booting means starting up, and we proceed as follows
To boot from a CD or DVD that is bootable, do the following:
1. insert the CD 1 (and the subsequent ones when prompted) into the drive.
2. turn off the computer.
3. restart (with the CD still in the drive).
4. press any key when prompted on the screen.
5. follow the on-screen instructions.
The computer will restart several times, perhaps, and will again ask you to press a key; you must not do so—this should be done only once at the first startup (step 4 in my explanation).

Hi,
Is there a specific reason for wanting to format it? It’s an operation that we hardly perform nowadays.
Vsta will ask you if you want to format your disk before installing, so no worries.

Is that the only thing to do ??
I’m going to burn my photos onto CDs first and then I’ll try.
Thank you, I’ll keep you posted, Luko.

if these are the right CDs/DVDs, there’s nothing else to do.
personally, I’m more in favor of restoration than formatting, but it’s your choice.
see you.

Well, to keep it simple
formatting= erase a Vista to replace it with another OS (with the risks related to drivers)
restoration= cleaning up Vista to put it back to the day you took it out of the box.

Oh yes indeed restoration is much simpler. Well then I’ll follow your advice. But if you could explain everything to me again in simpler words (I’m only 13) then … Here you go
