Hello, my cathode ray tube TV is stuck in standby mode and I can't get it to start no matter what I do. There's no sound, no response from the remote; is this a problem I can have repaired or do I need to replace it? Thank you in advance.
Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 7.0

Hello
two answers
- The old TV (CRT) that refuses to leave standby is broken! (power supply protection due to a short circuit) a quote would be wise since repairs can be expensive, and anyway, with the advent of total digital (the end of analog) in the near future, it will require either the replacement of the "old" TV or the purchase of a TNT adapter that will eventually be dedicated to supporting the aging CRT TV.
- The modern TV, like LG, that stays in standby (red or blue light) contradicts the agency's energy-saving directives by not being able to turn off completely. Be careful, there is a catch: if you cut the power completely, this TV, having no memory, will lose the channels, and you will have to search for them again! The people from the brand will say that you can leave this device in standby because it consumes very little power (one watt, I believe). I think indeed that's negligible. But this device is not "completely turned off," which poses a danger to it in case of a storm, for example. We can discuss this topic for a long time as there are pros and cons; it's up to you to form your opinion (I remind you of the problem of losing the channel memory).
Have a good day.
