Asus Rampage 2 Extreme Issue

Hello,

I just bought a core i7 platform with an Asus R2E.

I decided to assemble the machine myself for budgetary reasons.

It's the first time I've done this, and I underestimated the work of PC builders ^^. It's not particularly complicated, but when you don’t know... So many cables, wires, pins... I'm having my ups and downs!

After hours of brain strain, I thought: Finally!!!

I quickly connect the mouse, keyboard, and monitor, press the button.....It’s running!!!!

Wait, that's weird, the card should beep! My screen should turn on... Oh! That orange light is pretty, but why orange? The others are green.

I'm stuck, and I don't know what to do... I don't know what is blocking me.

Could you please give me a little help???

For those who want to get involved, I can either call them or contact them on MSN (it’s a bit simpler I think for all the details).

I sincerely thank those who will take an interest in this topic.

Thanks, everyone.
Configuration: Windows Vista Internet Explorer 7.0

I have the same problem as you, the 2 orange LEDs at startup, one turns off and the other stays on with "CMOS ERROR" written on the indicator (the one you have in your box) that connects at the top left of your motherboard...

    Hello

I had the same problem as you
you just need to move the RAM to the other slots
    1 3 5 doesn't work
    but 2 4 6 works
after that I recommend flashing the BIOS directly because I was delivered with version 1406 and it was super unstable
crashing during the installation of Windows 7 etc.
now I'm still looking for stability because even the original settings don't pass OCCT
honestly, I'm really frustrated at the moment.....

    good luck to all

Another thing to try: change the power supply!
If one of the voltages provided by the power supply was not correct, or if the motherboard's 4xpin auxiliary power connector was not connected (a common mistake), the motherboard could (quite logically) either refuse to start or only start partially.

Apply thermal paste on the processor for a good startup; it needs to make contact.

You can't find the meaning of the orange light in your manual?

You can be sure that I've looked before!!!

I’m not on a forum calling you minions!!! I’m looking at some things, I check that there aren’t other posts that might correspond, and I search online beforehand...

But thank you for showing a minimum of interest...

Hello, I have the same problem as you. I'm losing my hair, I've always built my PCs myself, nothing in the manual, nothing online, nothing in the forums. I just bought it and I don't want to send it back for service.

I solved my problem by sending it to customer service and they gave me a new one (after a month and a half).

If you buy from the Chinese sellers in Montgallet, be careful; there’s some shady business going on there... and the sellers lie to you and treat you like an idiot when there’s a problem with their equipment.

    Hello,
Before getting to that, you can try removing and reinserting the BIOS battery.

Since it's the Rampage II Extreme, there's no need for this manipulation.
You just have to turn off the PC and press the button on the back of the card for 3 seconds, which will have the effect of a Clear CMOS.
(the result when you remove the battery and put it back on any motherboard)

The power supply? I thought that power issues only concerned random restarts when using a graphics card... I don't quite see how it could affect a motherboard's BIOS.

Which slot did you put your RAM in? Because for X58-based platforms, you need to put the RAM in the second slot (normally, it should be in the first).

    Hello
have you solved your problem because I have the same one.
After several days of operation, the PC turned off and doesn't reboot anymore, the screen doesn't turn on, the hard drives don't start, and the PC keeps shutting itself down, I'm thinking it's the RAM but I'm not sure, the ROG stays on CPU init and the BIOS LED doesn't light up, I'm starting to wonder if it could be the motherboard.
If anyone has an idea or a solution, I'm all ears.

I just ordered this motherboard and I hope not to have any issues like your thermal sensor 1 being faulty or poorly connected, because that would be a disaster; the PC would go into safety mode and wouldn't start :)

The orange LED that is on is the one for the BIOS that is being used.
I would recommend you read the manual that explains all the operations on the BIOS before doing anything. Available in French on the Asus website.

    Hello,

I had the same problem... no display, the screen doesn't turn on, and the LCD poster shows "cmos err"
I started by resetting the BIOS, nothing
I removed and replaced the battery, nothing...
I was starting to think that the battery might be dead (it happened to a friend, yes yes on a new motherboard)

Then I remembered an old recurring issue with AGP graphics cards, where you had to push them in hard into the slot or else nothing...
Well, I tried it on a whim (N295 gtx)... and oh miracle, everything started normally!

Coincidence? Or did the BIOS reset I did just before take a while to operate? No idea

For the RAM, they are on slots A1 B1 C1 see page 2.6 and everything is okay for me.

      Hello
I'm giving you an update, and unfortunately, it's not good news.
After sending the card to customer service, they tested it and the card is dead!!!!
After several searches online, it turns out that Asus is experiencing reliability issues with this card; I'm not the only one. If there's no startup beep with just the card and the processor, then the card is dead (yes, because if there's no RAM and no graphics card connected, the motherboard should beep).
For me, the card is with Asus, and now it's been more than three weeks without my toy, and at this price, it really sucks.

Salut, j'ai eu le même problème que vous. Mon problème venait de l'adaptateur DVI vers VGA que j'ai remplacé par un ancien que j'avais.

The card turned for 5 days before frying.
