Hello,

Is there a way to find out which process (or software) is downloading?

For some time now, I sometimes (but not always) have trouble retrieving my emails or browsing certain pages that are not particularly heavy.
However, when I look at the status of my wireless connection, I notice that I am receiving data and sending it. It may be an automatic update, but probably not all the time. I've done the usual cleanups (Spybot, Ad-Aware), but I still experience this phenomenon.

So I return to my question: is there a utility (either already available on Vista or to be searched elsewhere), preferably in French, that would allow me to see what is happening on my connection?

    hi,

    ctrl+alt+delete \ task manager \ networking tab => local network traffic
    start \ connection \ your connection => % of your wireless connection (packets received/sent)

      Hello,

      Thank you for your message.
      In the task manager, I have confirmation of the use of the wireless network connection (nothing on the local network connection) and similarly, with the connection status, I have the number of bytes received and sent. But none of this tells me which software or process is making these transmissions/receipts.

    Thank you for these links. I might start with that.

    I’ve looked through a few comparisons and forums; it seems that Comodo stands out as one of the best firewalls and the latest version (3.10 as of today) can be installed in French, which is essential for me.

    You need to check the task manager to see if an application (spyware?) is using your connection.
    What is your ISP?

    Thank you for your message.
    I cannot see anything helpful in the task manager. I do have the list of processes running, but it's not understandable for me; I recognize some processes but not all, far from it.

    As for spyxare, I have Ad-Aware watch live running as a resident.

    Finally, regarding the ISP, I cannot answer you because I am not currently at home but on a hotel connection. It might actually be because this hotel connection is not very powerful that I perceive this activity that should go unnoticed with a standard good-quality connection like the one I have at my usual home.

      what firewall do you have on your PC?
      If you close the flow, does it tell you which processes are blocked?

    Hello,

    I use the Windows firewall, but it doesn’t seem to indicate what it blocks if I close the flow.
    I've read several times that it’s not great and that there are better options, but I’ve never looked into the issue.

      I have never looked into the issue.
      That's a shame, if I may say so. It's precisely because safety is often neglected that the
      Virus/Security platform is so active.. ;)

      I recommend disabling the Windows "firewall" and installing a real one.
      Personally, I have Sygate, and I am satisfied with it. The problem is that it is not maintained.
