Hello,

I have a Maxtor Diamond 10 (IDE) hard drive recognized by the BIOS of my motherboard (P5GDC Deluxe), but when I install XP Pro, it does not recognize any disks. Do I need to install a specific driver or check the BIOS configuration?

Thank you

Hello everyone, I'm having trouble with my Maxtor One Touch Mini III external hard drive. After I deleted the Maxtor software that installed itself when I first plugged it into my PC, it appears as unable to start in the Windows system information. It even shows up as a problematic device. Damn, just another hassle, I promise I'll stop this tomorrow!! If anyone has a solution, I'm all ears... Best regards.

    Hi Thierry,
I don't think a driver is necessary for installing a hard drive, but you don't specify whether you formatted it with fdisk, the first step; if not, your hard drive will not be recognized at all.
For my part, I installed an 80GB Maxtor, and Windows only recognizes 32!! It's a headache...
Best regards, talk to you later.

The old diskettes Win98 do not handle HDDs larger than 60 GB, if that helps... Go take a look at the Druid's site and you will find a suitable startup diskette to download. In statistics, type the Druid...

      See you+

    Hi,

I've formatted my disk properly but XP doesn't recognize it; it tells me there is no disk present. However, when I install Win98, the hard drive is recognized.
For your problem, go to Computer Management then Disk Management to see if there is any empty partition.

    Hello,

with XP MEF, something like that happened to me and it was a question of knights, so Win98 didn't bother him more than wood.

because indeed the computer manager, in disk management, displays the disks even with Linux partitions (we don't have access to them but we know they exist).

but it can also be a question of compatibility because I think you must have at least two HDDs. I also saw a case between Maxtor and Barracuda, where we could see both disks but the boot took 30 seconds.... there are so many strange things sometimes!!!

      Hello everyone,

thank you for the replies, but I just found out that I was missing a RAID driver for my motherboard (P5GDC Deluxe), and once this driver was installed, both Maxtor disks were recognized.

You can find the driver on the Asus website:
      http://www.asuscom.de/pub/ASUS/misc/ide/ite8212/ITE8212_1719.zip

      See you soon

Hello, I reinstalled my Windows XP this morning and my hard drive is no longer recognized by XP, whereas it was before. It shows in my device manager that the RAID drivers are missing, but the link above no longer works. Can someone please send me this link again? Thank you.
