Hello,
hello, I just bought a Mac Pro with Leopard and a HP C4580 wifi printer

With a USB connection, I can access my printer, but when I attempt a wifi connection, the installation goes normally. I have a Livebox with a security key in WEP, I enter my code
Then I get a window with this message: "your device is associated with the Livebox network" but > I have IP recovery failure:

I have the following message: "The network configuration has been successfully downloaded to the device. However, to continue configuring the device on the network, your Mac must have access to the device. Therefore, make sure your Mac has access to the network: "Livebox" and try again."

I would like to clarify that my Mac is connected to my Livebox via wifi

Thank you for your help
Configuration: Mac OS X Firefox 3.0.10

I also have an HP Photosmart C4580 printer and a Thomson mini Livebox.

After struggling for a long time to get this printer working over Wi-Fi, I finally succeeded!

Here’s the technique I used:

1.: Click the Wi-Fi button on the printer, go to “Wireless settings,” then “Restore network settings.”
2.: Still in “Wireless settings,” print the network configuration page.

3.: On your PC, activate your Wi-Fi card or key and search for and connect to the network named hpsetup.

4.: Once the connection is established, type in the address bar of your browser the IP address located facing the line “URL for embedded web server” on the network configuration page that you printed in step 2.

5.: Select the Networking tab. Leave “IP address configuration” and “DNS address configuration” on “automatic.” However, in the Advanced tab:
-SSID: enter the name of your Livebox network here (e.g., Livebox-666A)
-Click the “infrastructure” checkbox
-Click the “WPA-PSK authentication” checkbox
-Leave the next two dropdown menus on “automatic”
-But remember to fill in your WPA key in both the “passphrase” and “confirm passphrase” fields
-Finally, in the “compatibility” menu, check the first box: “In an infrastructure network use 802.11b behavior.”

6. Press and hold the association button on your Livebox for about 5 seconds (the Wi-Fi LED blinks rapidly).

7. In your browser window, you can now click “Apply” at the bottom right.

8. Check by typing the address of your Livebox (192.168.1.1) to see if the printer is connected to the network.

9. You can now launch the “reconfigure network settings” utility from HP that should work without any problem.

I hope this works for you too ;)

Hello Guigui,
I'm having no luck, it's not working for me.
When I print the configuration page, the IP address located next to the line "URL for embedded web server" on the network configuration page is null, meaning http://0.0.0.0 even after restoring the network settings, I don’t understand anything. If you could send me a copy of your config page to compare what’s wrong with mine, that would be nice.

Waiting for your reply, thanks.
