Hello,
I would like to cancel GDATA AntiViruskit Internetsecurity 2008.
I received a reminder letter notifying me to pay a bill for non-payment.
For several months, I have not used this antivirus, which I uninstalled.
For your information: I did not renew the update for 2009, and their download site locks access if the payment for the update has not been made.
I believe that since I cannot download their update and have not paid for a new year, I am done with this software.
Generally, we pay if we buy something in return, right?
To replace it, I have used another software that is much lighter and cheaper; it may be less efficient, but so far it suits me.
Until I received their letter, and I don't know how to end this situation.

If you have the solution, I'm interested because I'm exactly in the same situation as you; I didn't realize it was a subscription.

I had the opposite problem: I re-subscribed for a year (via international bank transfer since re-subscribing by Visa card doesn't work!). I was able to make the updates, but two weeks later I received a letter from Germany (Gdata's site) asking me to pay. I responded by email and I have no problems.
My advice: send an email explaining the issue (don't forget to mention the customer number) and don't do anything else. In any case, since the updates are not being sent, they cannot claim a re-subscription at all.
Don't forget that there is a phone number for France where you can contact Gdata. If you're in doubt, give them a call (it's not too expensive!).
