Car stereo: handbrake wire = image lock Solved

Hello,

I just purchased the Neom AR 4700: http://www.cdiscount.com/...
I just read in the manual that it is imperative to connect a certain wire to the handbrake in order to view images (like DVDs, for example), because the unit prohibits displaying images as long as the handbrake is not engaged... Safety precaution, right? But I believe this is the case for all car radios, isn't it!?

Anyway, my question is as follows:

Is there a connection that would allow viewing images/videos while driving? :D

P.S: It's for my wife, of course, so she can watch a movie while I drive :)))

I resolved the same problem quite simply, no need to dismantle any connectors or even a voltmeter or anything else
a piece of tape securing the bare wire to the metallic casing at the back of the car radio and that's it! :)

So yes, I think it's good, and indeed it reads divx formats.
However, you need to have quite a bit of space for the placement because there are a lot of cables to fit, personally I have a Golf III and it was a nightmare!

Yes, we should be able to since we can connect a rearview camera, so there is definitely a video input.

The only thing is that it doesn't save the radio stations... maybe I made some bad connections but if that's the case, I would like someone to explain it to me because I don't see where I could have gone wrong!

My question is for MaStErGrAhAm, is it the same car radio as the cdiscount link you posted, i.e. the Neom? Because I’m struggling to fit the video and the thing is I also had a hard time forcing it in with all the cables, it's really tough, so I don't want to take it apart for nothing and then struggle like crazy to put it back together... By the way, if anyone knows how to use the various audio and video cables (and I'm skipping some) at the back, because it’s already a hassle to fit the unit in with that, I don’t see where the extra wires are supposed to go once connected to the car radio cable?? Maybe some plastic from the car's interior needs to be removed, right?

You connect the handbrake wire to your car's ground, and voilà, it works without any problems.

yes there is a solution, but originally it's forbidden you just need to connect this famous wire to a positive terminal somewhere.
And then everything works, I have the same and I connected it to the positive terminal of the unit and it works, but be careful not to be distracted while driving.

I connected the pink wire to the ground but it doesn't change anything; I put it on the positive, but that doesn't change anything either?
