Hello.

Go to this site, click on the EXE. box.
Once the file is downloaded (it will have a .reg extension)
Just run it.

Hi, I had the same problem today and I found the solution:
You need to go to Control Panel -> Security System -> on the left go to "Programs" -> Default Programs -> The fourth icon "Set your default programs and access settings for programs and the computer" and select Microsoft Windows.

Hoping to have helped you.

From another PC, download this file --> exe-fix-w7 to the desktop and unzip it, then copy the .reg file to a USB stick and paste it on the desktop of the problematic PC, afterwards restart by tapping F8 or F5 to enter safe mode. Right-click on the .reg file, accept to merge it into the registry, even if there is an error message, restart, open a program and see what happens.

Hello. My problem is that when I open the desktop, the Windows Media Player page appears. How can I stop this from happening?
Thanks for the reply

Hello,
Click on Start, then in the Search Box or on the Run command, type: msconfig then hit enter, accept the permission if prompted, then in the opened window, go to the Startup tab, then uncheck the program related to media player.
Apply then OK, restart the PC.

After that, another window will open, just check the box then close this window.

Thank you Edawards for the reply, but in the window after the Startup tab, I don't have the program linked to media player. I can't
therefore uncheck it. See you later.

I have the same problem; all my files except for the internet open with Windows Media Center. I went to the site https://www.winhelponline.com/, I clicked on the box where it says exe, I downloaded it, but when I try to open it, it always opens with Windows Media Center. Thank you to anyone who wants to help me; I am desperate.

I'm not in your situation, but try this...
When you download the file, it is compressed in a .zip file, unzip it on another computer, transfer it to the sick PC and run it again, it should be a .reg.

My problem was the following: when I was playing Guild Wars, Windows Media Center would open once I closed GW.
I solved the problem by doing this: right-click on the "Guild Wars" shortcut on the desktop --> Properties --> Target: "C:\Program Files (x86)\GUILD WARS\Gw.exe" -mce.

You need to remove -mce and then click Apply.
