Acer Aspire X3200 Accéder au setup ou F12 : Démarrer

Hello,
For the past 2 days, my ACer X3200 PC has been stuck on the startup screen "Del: Enter Setup F12: Boot Menu".
No matter what I do, I cannot access either the setup or the BIOS, as I feel the keyboard isn't responding even though it blinks at startup.
No peripherals are connected except for the keyboard and mouse. Even when I unplug them and restart, I have only managed to boot the PC correctly once. Since then, there has been no possibility.

One detail to add is that about 3 weeks ago, the built-in card reader in the tower short-circuited after one of my children introduced a coin into one of the slots while I was using a different slot... (I imagine a short circuit must have occurred... Not super happy at the time, but given his young age (my son is 2 years old), I tried to hold back!!! :-) However, I do not know if it is truly related since the PC was working very well until now... although it is true that the reader had completely disappeared from the device manager.

For more information, I’ve searched, but I don’t recall having made any updates recently or installed any software or system modifications that could have caused this problem.

Is there anyone among you who has experienced a similar problem with this type of model? I have looked through the forum for similar issues, but none of the proposed solutions managed to resolve my problem!

Thank you in advance for your help!!!
Configuration: Windows Vista

He tells you "enter set up" or "entering set-up"?
    And F12 gives nothing either?

Unfortunately, there is nothing to do on that famous screen... nothing happens except for restarting.
But would there be this screen if there was a BIOS problem??

    Good evening...

I suppose your keyboard is USB, right?
Plug in a PS/2 one (the round connector!) and it should work...
    Best regards,

    See you later

      Hello,
no, my keyboard is indeed PS2 and the fact is that even when unplugging the keyboard + mouse... nothing changes...

The keyboard and mouse must be connected BEFORE starting up...
I admit that otherwise, I don't see much of a solution: if it offers F2 or F12, and we can't choose either one...?!
Try removing the BIOS battery for 20 minutes, then restart...and let me know...

        Best regards,
        See you later.

When I say "in PS2", it means "in original PS2", not a USB keyboard with an adapter for the PS2 port, because those adapters rarely work until the PC has started up...

      Good evening,
Unplug the mouse and all the peripherals from the PC.
Restart the computer and press F12 several times.
The boot menu appears and the computer starts.
      See you later.

I have this model, and I did not have any hardware issues except for a power incident: the power-on didn’t work; the fan was running very loudly with a lot of noise, but the blue power LED was not lighting up. I tried turning it on and off about thirty times.

The issue resolved itself by unplugging the power cord and plugging it back in. I imagine the power supply was in a stable blocking state that could only be reset by the absence of power.

Here the problem is different, but why not try the same solution?

Thanks for the info, but in my case the trick doesn't work...

I have the same problem, the computer won't turn on at all after unplugging and plugging the power cable back in at least fifteen times; since it's no longer under warranty, where can I find one?

Thank you for your interest in my case!

The keyboard I'm using is the original PS2 one and without an adapter (I will still try to make it work with another keyboard to see if that's the issue). As for removing the BIOS battery, my PC is still under warranty, so that would void it. I think the best solution would be to send it in for repair... Unless anyone has another solution to propose.

    Thank you

Indeed, being under warranty, in my opinion, the question is no longer relevant...
      Good luck..

Hello, I have exactly the same problem but unfortunately the PC is no longer under warranty... any ideas?

(Yes, I know it's 2 years later but I couldn't find any other forum with this problem..!)

I would lean towards the motherboard because the entire video part is dead, VGA no signal and HDMI looks like Canal+, so I placed a graphics card in the PCIe slot and I get an image, but there is this blockage on "ACER Enter setup or F12:Boot".
I then "stupidly" tested the BIOS battery and I indeed have 3V, but I don't know if there are other tests to be done?
If you have any ideas, thanks for helping me, I'm cracking up!!!

And if you get into the setup, what happens?

Well, actually we can't interact with this screen... I've tried several USB and PS2 keyboards but nothing works except Ctrl-Alt-Delete...

Not normal: it should either say "Press Del (or F2) to enter setup" or "entering setup," but "enter setup" doesn't mean anything!!
Did you remove, test, and replace the motherboard battery for 10 minutes?

If he says "press del enter setup - F12 Boot" but it doesn't matter because we can't interact with that screen... but I will try the trick of removing the battery for a few minutes! I'll test it again, thanks!

To summarize: he gives you prompts, and your keyboard isn’t responding?
If it’s USB, switch to PS/2

If removing the battery didn't change anything, I'm afraid it might be the motherboard that's faulty... Check if you see any bulging or burst capacitors...
Otherwise, if you can try a different power supply...
Try unplugging everything (drives, HDD, mouse... leave only the graphics card, keyboard, and screen...)
