Hello,
I'm having trouble connecting my desktop PC to my Livebox via Ethernet. I've been browsing some forums but haven't found an answer for my case... calling all experts!
More specifically:
the Livebox connection via USB works
the Livebox is already connected via Ethernet to a laptop; no problem (I want to connect two PCs via Ethernet at the same time).
I think the desktop PC is the "main" PC because as soon as I uninstall the Livebox from the desktop PC, the Ethernet connection with the laptop stops working
Actually, when I try to install the Livebox, it searches but doesn't find it: the PC indicates that the network connection is limited or non-existent. And indeed, in the network settings, the connection isn't working.
When I change the TCP/IP settings to assign a fixed IP address to my computer, the connection is okay via the control panel/network connection.
BUT when I try to continue the installation with this fixed IP address, the connection stops working again and the fixed IP address I had assigned disappears (it switches back to automatic address by itself...). I've tried by
changing the settings regarding the local address of the network card but nothing works.
Thank you for your help

Hello,
If I understand correctly, you want to connect the two PCs to the Livebox via Ethernet, so one PC to the red port and the other to the yellow port of the Livebox.
If that's the case, you'll need to access the Livebox management interface to disable the TV service on the yellow port of the Livebox and thus free up an Ethernet port for the PC.
Go to the link below:

OK, it's more understandable.
I think your livebox has a problem. Now, just to be sure, plug a straight RJ45 cable into the yellow port (actually, it's the same type of cable as for the red port).
Apart from that, I think you need to call Orange's hotline, but I'm almost sure that your livebox has a problem, or maybe an update that hasn't been done.

Thank you for keeping us informed, and especially for confirming that the Orange hotline has once again demonstrated its great incompetence.

Hello,
What is the brand of your Livebox?
In theory, you should have 2 Ethernet ports on your Livebox, one red and one yellow. If I understood correctly, your PC, which is working via Ethernet, is connected to the red Ethernet port, right?
If you want to add a second computer to your Livebox via Ethernet, you need to enable that yellow port from the administrator page of the BOX.
To do this, go to this address http://192.168.1.1/ > ADSL TV > click on modify > click on disable. Your yellow Ethernet port is now functional.
PS: Your box by default should automatically assign an IP address to each PC, at least for Orange Liveboxes... Even though it's possible, as you did, to assign a fixed IP to each PC...

Smart 91 was faster than me! (I took 5 minutes to respond woa lol)
Well at least your problem should be solved, I think...

I don't personally see any text language... Aside from the "LOL" but let's not exaggerate :-)
As for the mistakes, I don't see many either, and I am currently programming so it's hard for me to respond quickly :P

But I’m not blaming you; I was responding with humor to your message when you said, "Smart was faster than me, it took me 5 minutes to write..."
I was jokingly saying that you need to practice your typing, without making mistakes and without using text language. Implicitly, if you want to write as fast as I do
Far from wanting to upset you. It was just humor
:-)

Well, I'm much slower than all of you; I tried the solution on Tuesday night but it didn't work; I tried again more calmly today and it still doesn't work, even though it seems less bad:
Anyway, thank you for the time spent and for the speed (even if I'm not up to par)
The new symptoms are:
After deactivating the TV via ADSL, the installation of the Livebox finishes successfully. I have the icons and my dear computer offers me to surf via the Wanadoo icon (the IP address problem message has disappeared).
BUT in fact, I can't surf: the ADSL connection is indicated as not activated on my Livebox... I tried 3 times uninstalling and reinstalling but nothing works.
I went to check the ADSL settings on the Livebox and there it says under "WAN PPPoE" "waiting for an underlying connection (WAN ETHoA 7 low)". No information on any IP address on this screen (even though I have info when I connect via USB).
Thank you in advance for your valuable help.

Good evening,
the ADSL connection is showing as not activated on my Livebox... I have tried 3 times uninstalling and reinstalling but nothing works
Is the ADSL button on your Livebox blinking? Is it only with the computer connected to the yellow socket that can't BROWSE? Can you clarify this small point please...
PS: Thank you for your thanks ;-)

As far as I remember, there is no ADSL indicator and the second computer can no longer browse (in fact, the second computer cannot function as long as the first one is not working... this has been happening to me since the beginning with the Livebox).
I will uninstall and reinstall right away to double-check, you never know...
See you shortly, maybe.

Here I am again:
the sequence of what happens:
I uninstall USB
I hear a "little click" from my box
the second PC can no longer connect either
I reinstall via Ethernet
box side:
Internet light is blinking
TV light (the "double triangle") is blinking
no internet on any PC
small detail: when I reinstall via USB, I hear the "little click" again

I don't understand anything anymore; First, you say that the two PCs are connected via Ethernet, now you’re talking about USB.
I admit, I'm a bit lost in how to help you
The question is how are the PCs connected, via Ethernet and USB or via Ethernet/Ethernet?

Sorry to confuse you.
Clarification:
Current working configuration:
Desktop PC via USB
Laptop via red Ethernet
Note on this configuration: as soon as I uninstall the "USB" Livebox from the desktop, the Internet connection with the laptop via Ethernet stops working
That's why I constantly have to reinstall the USB Livebox on the desktop to write on the forum.
Configuration I would like:
Desktop and laptop via Ethernet
Latest tests:
I completely reset the Livebox (RST button)
I did a complete installation of the Livebox via Ethernet: OK
Livebox TV via ADSL disconnected: OK
I add a PC via the yellow Ethernet port: NOT OK: the ADSL line disconnects (I am no longer synchronized) and the Internet and "double triangle" lights are flashing.
If I unplug the yellow Ethernet port and turn off and on the Livebox, everything goes back to normal except that: the Internet connection has desynchronized two minutes ago (even though there was only one red Ethernet port connected).
In summary:
Desktop PC alone via red Ethernet: "not stable"
Desktop PC via USB: OK
Adding laptop via red Ethernet: OK
I really don't understand what's wrong: why isn't my red Ethernet connection "stable" with the desktop while it is stable via the laptop?
Why does the Livebox seem not to want to count the second yellow Ethernet port as "PC" and not "TV via ADSL"?
I'm not sure that sending back the Livebox will necessarily solve the problem...
Thank you in advance.

Thank you very much for your help and the time spent.
I just tried with USB for the desktop PC and the yellow Ethernet port for the other PC. It works.
I will therefore head to the Orange customer service.
Thanks again.

OK. But keep us informed of the outcome. It could help others who have the same problem.

Here we go, I've finally had time to revisit the problem.
The issue was with the Livebox. They replaced it for me and now everything is fine.
I’d like to share my experience with Orange's customer service.
1st call: I was told that "two computers via Ethernet is not possible on a normal box. It would only work very occasionally and anyway, the box is not made for that, even if it's indicated in the manual; the manual is wrong. The only solution is a professional box."
2nd call: Yes, it will work, but specific settings need to be made on the Livebox, and those are higher-level interventions. It's an intervention that costs €50 (or something like that, editor's note), but you also get training on advanced settings for the Livebox.
3rd call (€50):
I start by saying that my Livebox might have a problem, but apparently, IT IS NOT POSSIBLE.
So, we do the manipulations (no training, everything is on a virtual screen ("shadow") and moreover, you can’t see at all what they are doing). And finally, after 10 minutes, they give me an exchange number...
They didn't charge me €50 (thank goodness).
In summary, the best responses I've gotten have been from you, my dear volunteers!!
Cheers and thanks again to the internet users.
