Empty email 01/01/1970

Hello,
I regularly receive empty emails (including the source).
They are dated 01/01/1970 01:00

I'm not the only one in this situation; it happens with Outlook, Outlook Express, or Thunderbird.
I thought about antivirus software, but the machines involved don't have the same ones...

In the end, it's not a big deal, a filter allows me to send them to junk or directly to the trash, but I'm looking for the source of this problem... local? network?

The only common point "for the users I know" is the 'ISP' Orange
Have you encountered this problem? Do you have any leads?
Thank you.
Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 8.0 Thunderbird Orange

display the full header: display -> header
open the mail file with Notepad to see the entire text

I already tried exporting the email and opening it with Notepad++... nothing, just like in the zip (above, it's an export of one of the emails)
as for "Show full header: view -> header" I did it, see the last PDF... there's nothing there either.

You need to examine the file without going through an export that will format it.
Display the hidden files
Go to C:\Documents and Settings\NAME\Application Data\Thunderbird\Profiles\NUMBER.default\Mail\
Then Local Folder
Find the google-group file
Copy it to avoid a problem with TB
Open the copy with Notepad
The emails start with From - date
like:
From - Fri Feb 11 16:14:29 2005
X-UIDL: 6
X-Mozilla-Status: 0001
X-Mozilla-Status2: 00000000
X-Mozilla-Keys:
Return-Path: <xxxxxxxx

The emails in question are in the folder sort>junk mail
...336 Meg the beast
impossible to open it with a text editor.
So I created a folder ccm (for howto) and dragged some emails in.
The empty ones don’t move! ....damn it!

So I’m doing the opposite...
The spams in the "ccm" folder and I should be able to open "junk mail"
13871 to move, it's long ....

In the scramble, the files from 01/01/1970 have disappeared...
I’m rebooting the machine to see if they reappear. Otherwise, I will take up the thread at "receipt" of a new empty email.

Thank you for your help.

As I mentioned in a previous email:
"on this machine I no longer have the emails from 01/01/1970, due to the tweaks to use the "dubcek" method, I will check on my laptop "I should have a copy of my email" to continue the conversation regarding the object of the crime."

On the laptop I don't have any... darn!
I will wait to "receive" new emails from 01/01/1970 to pick up the thread in order to follow your instructions.

Thank you all, best regards, Denis

spam ?
no, the message contains no content (EMPTY SOURCE CODE)
so, no subject, no sender, no recipient ...just an empty message.

<b>No, the message contains no content (EMPTY SOURCE CODE)</b> <br />Impossible, you must at least have the return-Path of the sender..... <br /> <br />But by the way, how do you check the <b>source code</b> of the message…? <br /> <br />@+ <br />pasthou

Under "Thunderbird"
select the email > view > message source.

Outlook Express
right-click on the message > properties > details tab

there you go

I don't use Outlook Express, but Thunderbird.
An example of a received email http://www.eurotoile.net/message.zip

The problem is not new, see the 2003 post here: https://www.hugedomains.com/domain_profile.cfm?d=geckozone&e=org

Thank you

Firstly: Your zipped message is not clear at all because it is empty........if you want, I can make the same with Notepad...:-((

Secondly: the link regarding the forum refers to an email with nothing in the subject and nothing in the body of the message, in no way does it mention code...for them it refers to an empty email......
but every email sent must contain code.......that's why I'm insisting. The nuance is important.

See you later

only move part of it, including the emails without subject, into a new folder that you can then open with notepad

Thank you, but Thunderbird has deleted all my empty emails. I wanted to keep 4 or 5 in the "junk" folder, but it deleted them all :-(
I suppose during the transfer it must have discovered the invalid emails.

As I mentioned earlier, since I no longer have any emails from 01/01/1970 for the moment, I will wait to receive some again before continuing this thread.

Thank you all.

it might have been a corruption of the file that TB cleaned up.

It's possible...
But that doesn't explain to me why some people in my circle have the same issue with "outlook-express."
I'll see upon receiving this type of email at my place.
...to be continued

I also receive empty messages dated 01/01/1970 1:00, and I can't get rid of them.
I'm not very good with computers, and it happens that when this message sticks in my inbox, after a certain amount of time, all the messages turn into empty messages of the same type.

If anyone has a reliable solution, as we can neither delete it, nor resend it, nor block it, and it keeps coming back.

I'm really annoyed because my computer is my work tool, and my emails are disappearing.

Which software? Outlook, Thunderbird?

Actually, I have Outlook Express, but this message only appears in IncrediMail so far.
But yesterday, I had the very unpleasant surprise of seeing that all the emails from the Neuf box were no longer there, nothing...

Excuse me, but I am really quite new to this.

What do I do once I'm on the site?

dubcek Posted messages 18627 Registration date   Status Contributor Last intervention   5 659

you have access to your mailbox without going through software like Outlook or Incredimail
you need to enter your account and password

terudav34

and then what happens or what should I do?

dubcek Posted messages 18627 Registration date   Status Contributor Last intervention   5 659

Once logged in, you will check your email. If there are any empty emails dated 01/01/1970, the problem is in the inbox; if there are none, the problem lies within Incredimail.

ok, nothing at neuf, everything is in incredimail and still no way to get rid of it?

dubcek Posted messages 18627 Registration date   Status Contributor Last intervention   5 659

getting rid of Incredimail? It doesn't have a good reputation.
cleaning up, compacting the folders, copying the folder to another to see if it cleans up.

Well, if I understand correctly, I need to uninstall IncrediMail, but how do I retrieve all my contacts?

After that, cleaning up, compacting the folders, copying to another, I don't know how to do it.

Just right-click on the Junk folder, select "properties", and click on "rebuild index".

I don't use Incredimail, I don't know.

Well, too bad, I’ll try to manage on my own.

In any case, thank you for your patience.

Best regards.
