Hello,
I hope I'm on the right forum for this question.
I have an LG MG 64 video recorder and normally the head cleaning is automatic.
However, when there is a problem, a message appears saying: "please clean the heads," but I don't know what to do because none of the buttons on my remote control work (except for navigating through other menus).
Some video tapes are therefore unreadable.
Thank you for letting me know what to do.

Good evening
To properly clean the heads of a VCR, there's no miracle, the best way is to do it manually.
Open the VCR's cover
Locate the heads
There are two on the sides.
The video heads are located on a large cylinder and are tiny (small rectangular holes)
Using a cotton swab dipped in 70% alcohol, clean the two side heads and the rollers.
With a smooth paper towel soaked in alcohol, gently clean (it's fragile) each head on the cylinder.
Be careful not to leave any paper lint on the cylinder heads.
Do a test run

You need to disassemble your VCR and apply a paper on the cylinders containing the read heads with a light pressure, of course, while rotating the read heads by putting in a tape without a tape "all that with the VCR plugged in and open.
Another solution is to buy a tape that automatically cleans the heads.

Adding that if you don't know anything about electronics, I still advise you to be careful with the cassette: watch out for electric shocks from the various capacitors. From a tape recorder, whether plugged in or off, 220 volts in the face doesn’t do any good!
