Hello,
I have an external CD drive but I no longer have the installation CD for the driver. I did some research on Google and on this site but had no success.
The CD drive I am talking about is the following:
freecom CDRW Recorder 4420
Configuration: Windows Vista Firefox 3.0.7

    I never installed it, I just received it. But does it really work? The person didn't say if they had received the CD?

    Did you install it?

    If so, check in the device manager if it is recognized with or without a yellow dot?

    It is not recognized by my computer. I ran a device search with Vista and it found nothing.

    Have you tried an automatic detection on the site touslesdrivers.com or on the site ma-config?

    I visited the site touslesdrivers.com and I did a hardware detection.
    It found drivers for:
    - The mouse
    - The keyboard
    - The graphics card
    - The motherboard
    But not for the external CD drive; however, the last line at the bottom of the driver list that I can update caught my attention: "IDE bridge (Driver poorly installed) Manufacturer: Freecom Technologies"

    I don't know if that corresponds to the CD drive?

    I marked it as resolved because I finally bought an external DVD writer (which is very small, so better than the one where I was looking for the driver).
    However, while fiddling around to install the drivers, I now get an error message at startup and I don't know which driver it could be from, so I don't know how to get rid of it?....

    did you remove the other printer from the PC? I mean, check in the device manager that it’s no longer present

    There is a "port check" window with the message "at least one parallel port isn't capable of doing fast data transfers!" and there are two options "Run this program at next Windows start" and "Reset Windows now" but they are not necessarily accessible, meaning that often I cannot check or uncheck them.
