Hello,
my iPod Nano (latest generation) just went through the washing machine :(
I just retrieved it, it won't turn on but the computer recognizes it, iTunes recognizes everything.
The screen won't light up!
There's water inside!! What should I do?

Since the components, when they get wet, are turned off, and thus water does not create a short circuit, if you turn it on immediately after it gets wet, the water that remains inside will fry the components.
This is certainly the best advice.

The warranty is usually for how many days, I have had it since October 21, 2009?

Hi, I have the same problem, but when I put it on the computer, it recognizes everything, yet it still doesn't turn on. What should I do?

Same, an iPod went through the washing machine but dried (cold) for 2 hours and 30 minutes and it still doesn't work, any advice???

Mw it's the same problem except that my screen turns on and doesn't go to the home screen.
Play the rain card ;)
Let it dry well, normally, all electrical devices can be submerged in water, as long as they are thoroughly dried (a few hours on a radiator with a towel, as mentioned above). Since the components, when they get wet, are turned off, the water does not create a short circuit; however, if you turn it on immediately after wetting it, the remaining water inside fries the components.
I tested it with a mobile phone and it works, I'm not telling others to do it but there you go ^^
Best regards.

You can fool 1 person 1000 times, but you can't fool 1000 people 1 time.

Hello
There's only one way, put it in a cloth and place the cloth on a radiator for at least 8 hours
The problem is the detergent, but since it's thicker than water, you have a tiny chance that it hasn't penetrated the iPod, so let the iPod dry and... pray
Good luck

I’m not an expert, but since you’re putting it on a radiator, the water is going to evaporate inside your iPod, since it’s closed (case). So since it’s closed, you’re going to keep the same humidity level inside your iPod, so in my opinion, putting it on a radiator won’t change anything, except for heating up what’s inside.
Yes, thank you =)
But last night, as if by magic, it turned on and the music worked, even the earphones that had also gone through the washing machine worked =) The light works too!! I really didn't believe it after 2 days =/
But now, it works like before, even better lol =D These iPods are really great, they're already so practical and so ingenious, plus they're waterproof!! Honestly, I say BRAVO, for an iPod to work normally again after being submerged in water and soap for nearly an hour. That's impressive!! Apple is really very strong!! ;D But my iPod will probably stay with that tissue at the bottom (apparently, it doesn't block the contacts of the earphones) Cool!! Thank you & kisses
A++

You can have it covered under warranty for a defective screen, the problem is that if they see any traces of detergent or anything else, they will refuse it.

I believe they can see directly if the iPod has been in water or not (normally there is a white capsule at the bottom of the audio jack that turns blue when it comes into contact with water).
Hello everyone,
My iPod Nano 5G also went through the wash but only for half an hour. I placed it on the radiator. Fortunately, it was turned off and locked. I will let it dry for two days on the heater and then I will put it in a bag of dry beans.
Have a nice day everyone and let's pray, but I'm reassured by your messages since iPods are a bit water-resistant, but mine had the headphones unplugged :(
Well, we'll see. I'll keep you posted!
Bye

After a week, my iPod was restarting but I only saw the Apple logo before it turned off by itself. I decided to take matters into my own hands and found tutorials on YouTube that showed how to open the iPod. Once it was open, I used some "contact cleaner" because corrosion had done its work. It restarted and everything has been working fine until today. But be careful, because when disassembling, I got caught with the wire from the "lock" button that tore! Well, if that's all! :p
Finally, you know you could have just ended up with a huge downpour...
It's not easy to prove that it got wet...
A cotton swab to remove the detergent, don't forget to take out the cotton or else it won't work, it's obvious ;)
Otherwise, well done on the washing machine!

When I look, I see water nowhere ^^ XD
But in my opinion, I think there is some inside...
But even if we spill a little water, won't they take it back? Because at worst, I’ll just say I spilled a bottle!

They took it back without asking me anything :DDDDD lol but I have to wait 20 days :( That's not as good XD
It means they are sending it to Apple's customer service, hoping they won't refuse it there
