Hello,
I have a professional baccalaureate in MAVElec (audio and video repair), but I'm a bit lost, let's say it's been almost 10 years since I've worked in the field. I have a SONY television with a built-in TNT receiver, and I live on the ground floor of a house with two apartments. We have an antenna on the roof for both (with an amplifier in the attic). However, when I start the TNT channel scan, it only finds 5 channels (Canal+; Canal+ Sport; Canal+ Cinéma; Canal J; TPS Star). When I check the system information, I find a weak signal and the values for: -Pre Viterbi oscillating between 8.97 and 9.98 e-2 -Post Viterbi oscillating between 5.89 and 6 e-3 -5s between 8.88 and 9.49 e-2 -5s between 5.64 and 8.37 e-3 -UEC between 277 and 3000 -COFDM between 42 and 48. If I add an indoor antenna in addition to the rooftop antenna, would that help? And could someone explain all these terms in the system information? In short, could someone please help me? Thank you in advance.
Configuration: Windows XP Firefox 3.0.6

Hi, it comes from the rake at my place in a collective, the antenna is too old and since the owners don’t do anything, I bought a room antenna that I plug directly into the TV and the outdoor antenna is unplugged. I have 23 channels in clear and all the encrypted ones, but since I don’t have a decoder, 23 is already not bad. Maybe someone you know could lend you one to try. Good luck, see you!

Yes, I just borrowed one, but when I disconnect the outdoor antenna, I don't even receive a weak signal, and with it, I have a strong signal but then I lose it???? Thank you for replying.
The main transmitters would be near Aubenas - Ste Marguerite, Privas Chabanetau Nord, Alès Mt Bouquet to the South.
I don't have a topographic map for the reliefs, but I will try one of the two transmitters to the North; these are main transmitters and much more powerful than the relay antennas you're talking about. In my department, I have a relay antenna about 8 km to the West (I can see it from my roof), yet I point my antenna more than 100 km to the North (main transmitter).
Try looking here: http://www.tnt-gratuite.fr/carte.aspx

Hi, check if you have an outdoor antenna socket on the indoor antenna, connect both once to see. See you later!
For the Sony, I personally don't understand anything. I'm checking if it's green all the way.
If the communal antenna has a preamplifier, it is generally powered by 24 volts. Indoor antennas run on 5 volts. So BE CAREFUL!!!
The best thing to do is to check the installation. Does your neighbor have good reception on TNT? If yes, check your antenna cable. Look for the power supply (connected to a 220 volts outlet) inside the house or in the attic (follow the wire!), you should have one input coming from the preamplifier mounted on the mast and two outputs for each television. Check the condition of everything, if you're handy you should know what to do.
If not, you may need to reorient the antenna. Try to find out if it is wideband 21 to 69.
Normally, if you are a tenant, it's the landlord's responsibility to do this work, don't forget that you pay rent. If you want to intervene yourself, let them know.
Finally, the Sony tuner has good sensitivity; don't try to figure out what those numbers mean, rely on the color, even with a medium signal (yellow) it works, the best is to be fully in the green.

Hi,
concerning the preamp connection, it’s correct. It is connected to 220V. My neighbor (who is my landlord) manages to get the TNT signal correctly thanks to an indoor antenna and with the outdoor antenna.
For me, when I make that connection, I sometimes get a green signal with perseverance, but it is not stable.
Because I am lower down, on the slope of the small hill where I live, I cannot receive it properly?
Thank you for the explanations
but these numbers are bothering me (I like to know the why and how)
I would really like someone to explain it to me?

It seems that the indoor antenna is predominant; there must be a problem with the outdoor antenna, check the orientation. There is often an indicator light for the power supply; it may be dead.
I still find that your installation is really strange. For TV, you need to keep it simple; normally, you would have an antenna and a splitter with 1 input and 2 outputs in your case. If there's a lack of gain, a preamplifier should be as close as possible to the mast, with a power supply that has 1 input and 2 outputs for testing amplification. You start with the potentiometer at minimum, then increase to the necessary power. If the amplification is too strong or set to maximum, you will get the opposite effect. The adjustments are usually found on the power supply, most often on the preamplifier on the mast.

Hello,
concerning the installation, everything is fine!
So it's the orientation of the antenna.
I live in Laurac-en-Vivarais, my landlord tells me it's directed towards the relay of Anzon but we are at the foot of La Tour de Brison, so which one? Does he have TNT on both?
Please, thank you.

Hello,
In this link in this special TNT reception folder
http://www.commentcamarche.net/forum/affich 9437586 solutions for TNT reception issues
there are sub-links that lead to other topics that may be problematic for you, such as the transmitters broadcasting TNT, their channels, pre-amplifiers, adjustments, in short, everything that is useful in case of TNT reception problems... you shouldn't have any difficulty with your training..
