Is DhGate a scam or not?

Having studied the Chinese market and the practices of some scammers, I think I can provide you with a few tips.
First of all, DHgate itself is not a "scammer"!
DHgate is just, as some have said in previous messages, a trusted third party. This means that DHgate does not sell directly but hosts sellers on its website who are listed and rated like on eBay, so it’s essential to check the seller’s ratings.
Personally, I would not order from a seller with fewer than 300 ratings and 96% positive feedback, the best option being, of course, to order from powersellers (more reliable). If you still have doubts, check the reasons for negative ratings as you should do on eBay; this can indicate whether the ratings are justified.
I remind you that just four years ago, counterfeit items were easily found on eBay, but eBay has put significant efforts into removing counterfeit listings to improve its reputation and retain its customers. DHgate clearly allows the sale of counterfeit goods because it is a significant part of their trade, and especially since there are no clear laws in China prohibiting counterfeiting or the enforcement is lacking (perhaps DHgate will follow in eBay's footsteps in a few years to improve its reputation, who knows...). You should know that 99% of the branded products found on the site are counterfeit or "imitation." Even though these brands may sometimes be produced in China, they do not sell at cut-rate prices there. Some brands even sell their products for a higher price in China than in the West.
Thus, I would advise against ordering counterfeits because, firstly, it is illegal, and if you try, there’s a good chance of getting caught by customs, and even if it passes, it could be a cheap counterfeit (especially regarding phones, GPS, and all the latest electronics).
I would recommend purchasing all non-branded products for which you won’t have any legal issues (intellectual property).
I also advise against certain electronic products, which are often of poor or average quality compared to the standards we have in Europe, so it’s best to avoid GPS devices, touchscreen phones & smartphones, projectors, televisions... where you often encounter unpleasant surprises. For the rest, the quality is often quite good (e.g., MP3 players, portable DVD players, computer peripherals...).
Of course, this is just a personal opinion; other products may also be questionable, or on the contrary, some products that I do not recommend may be of good quality from certain sellers.
You should know that the products you import may be subject to customs tax, so it’s essential to check the applicable tax for the product you are importing.

on the same day, I bought two products on this site, I even paid for them separately through PayPal
on the site, I noticed that the seller only provided one EMS tracking code for shipping
I thought he must have sent them together
however, I only received one product and what a product... a nice counterfeit scam, which they had boasted about, particularly that it was recognized by iTunes
yeah right....

after complaining both on their site and to PayPal, I never saw my money again
even PayPal is washing their hands of it
I'm probably just too good a customer for them

Hello everyone, here is the continuation of my problem with a seller on DHgate
First of all, the listing shows the photo and complete description of the desired product, however, the seller sent something completely different. Then starts the dispute process with the seller, who continues to deny and plead in poor English that the market is good... Next comes the period when we have to submit the case and evidence to DHgate for them to make a final decision... Well, this rather begins a discussion with the seller through the DHgate representative, and they still managed to obtain a refund from the seller of $40, $60, ultimately $100.00 for merchandise that I paid $260 for...
So I ended up with a product I didn’t want and have no use for costing $160.00
It was the best choice because I had no guarantee that the goods would make it to their destination (China) or that the seller would be acting in good faith; he can say that the merchandise is not in good condition and everything rests on him. I could therefore not have been refunded, would have lost the merchandise, and incurred additional postal costs of $90.00.

Although I got more with the DHgate representative, I find that their powers are very limited and lean towards the seller. THE SELLER MUST AGREE, they also pressure not to return the material by saying there is a high probability it will be intercepted by customs, I was advised to declare a value of $40.00, but if it gets lost, that will also be the amount I receive from postal services...

Moreover, every message I received from the representative mentioned that I had to respond within 2 days, otherwise they would consider that I abandoned the dispute. Yet sometimes it would take up to 8 days before they would respond again (often after a second message from me to remind them that I was waiting).
I often received no news from them for a week only to finally receive a message on Easter Saturday to which I had to respond within 2 days.

That's my MADE IN CHINA adventure, for me DHgate or any site like eBay China is DONE NEVER AGAIN! The site woos you by saying they defend our interests in case of a problem, but in reality, their hands are tied, and they do not bite the hand that feeds them; the seller continues their business unpunished. As for PayPal, they have washed their hands by saying they have limited agreements outside of the United States.

I will respond regarding DhGate as best as I can:
It's a sales platform like Ebay or Leboncoin, except that all the manufacturing is in China. We know the quality of Made In China products, which mainly depends on the item’s manufacturing (Company).
I know a few sellers who are 100% honest, whether it’s about refunds in case of malfunction (guaranteed) or the quality of the item.
There are also "Fakes"; it’s mostly counterfeit, so be careful with customs for potential seizures, especially for free shipping via DHL.
There are many factors to consider, but in any case, I have spent about €1,000 on items from the same seller without any problems.
To conclude, DHGATE is reliable in itself, but not all sellers are, so be sure to inform yourself about the seller of the item, taking into account: "Detailed responses" | "Manufacturing and quality" | "Guaranteed or not".

The first, a lot of 10 Kingston USB keys that obviously don't work and are definitely 100% counterfeit. They offered me a $10 refund on a $136 invoice, and naturally, I told them to keep it all and to go **** themselves, as for PayPal, they wash their hands of it, claiming that the quality of the products is not their responsibility.
The second, a double din car radio special for Peugeot 307 with steering wheel control recovery for an invoice of $364, and upon arrival, of course, a single din car radio, not designed for Peugeot and with steering wheel control recovery available on their site for $314. The claim is underway, but I can already guess the answer they will give me and the one I will give them.
This may not be a generality, just me not having luck, but I doubt it.

Personal feedback regarding the seller hapyd59 (Beijing): as I mentioned in my feedback: shipping from China to France was relatively fast (less than 8 days), the package arrived in excellent condition, the ordered item is 100% in accordance with the details, the exchanges of messages with the seller were prompt, courteous, and reassuring, this seller is trustworthy and I could do business with him again without any issues. An important detail: he deals with factory stocks, the real ones, especially for Li-Ning, knowing this brand and their main retailer in Hong Kong, I was able to compare. Original packaging. Do not buy anything on this site, I bought a laser tattoo removal machine, broke down after six months. Worth over 2000 euros.
Since then, no response from DHGate, they are turning a deaf ear, the equipment sold is really low quality.
Before buying anything, you can reach someone at any hour of the day or night, after the sale, nothing, no one.
One piece of advice, don't buy anything from China.

Hello, I have already ordered from this site; it is a showcase site for a number of Chinese merchants and manufacturers (similar to eBay). So the site itself is serious, but it all depends on the sellers behind it (check their satisfaction rates, which are indicated just like on eBay).
NEVERTHELESS, the branded products are almost all counterfeits (I bought some well-imitated YSL polos, but they are definitely fake given a few details), so it is a crime to import and possess them. However, it is perfectly legal to buy non-copied products from a brand on this site.

I also registered on the dhgate site, good product presentation, at prices that are unbeatable.

So, I ordered two iPhones 4 for the modest sum of 252 dollars, the debit from my account was no problem, but for the rest :-(( it's a big disappointment.

The sellers show beautiful images of the phone with good features, retina display and all the fuss.

I ended up with two phones that looked like iPhones on the outside, but had cheap plastic; one had an antenna that could be pulled out lol like old phones, not very fitting for an iPhone 4, and the other didn't have one, the plastic was peeling off and the home button was stuck. Low-quality touch screen, abnormal noise during calls, and I could go on.......... You got it, these are almost what you find in markets for kids.

As for the refund, that's another story.

PayPal only refunds IF AND ONLY IF the package hasn't been shipped. As for dhgate :-((

I took the time to leave you a message, hoping it will make you realize that ordering from dhgate is not very useful, no guarantee, very long delays AND ABOVE ALL, products that have absolutely nothing to do with reality.
For me, the two scammers are tina0802 and yzorro.

The sellers are thousands of kilometers away from us, promising mountains and wonders with their friendly messages like dear friend.
They know perfectly well that we will never see them, so they take advantage of it as they want and enrich themselves by scamming.

Regarding positive votes, many people vote as soon as they receive the product, once they have voted, they can't go back when they realize the reality.

BE REALLY CAREFUL WITH DHGATE, move on to something else, it's advice I'm giving you, feel free to get scammed.

By selling you counterfeits and scamming you on the content, they know very well that you won’t go report your purchase!
