Hello,
When I select a cell in Excel 2007, it appears light blue. However, with the sun behind my PC, I can't see this light blue color. How can I change this color? (To check that my cells are properly selected, I have to click on View-> Zoom on Selection for now because I have such a hard time seeing the difference...).

With Office 2007, when I select a cell, it appears bluish on a light background. How can I increase this contrast?
A solution that, while not optimal, will help those with vision problems: You can modify this in the registry: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Excel\Options Create a new DWORD value named Options6 and give it a decimal value of 16. This should be fixed with SP1.

Hello,
The issue is no longer present. I solved the problem by modifying the registry: the selected boxes turned completely black. I forgot to return and mark it as resolved.
In any case, thanks to all the contributors.

Hello,
I just had a problem with one of my colleagues, which is why I'm making a small suggestion, if it hasn't already been done...
I adjusted the contrast and brightness of her screen. And I managed to get the same selection background color.
There you go, just in case this can prevent any changes on the PC...
An Excel fan.

Good evening,
I'm giving you for Vista, for XP (but I don't have it on hand anymore) it's a bit of the same maze...
Alright, are you ready?
- Control panel
- Personalization
- Window color and appearance
- Open classic appearance properties... (maybe not on XP)
- 'Advanced' button
- there you have the current 'color scheme', depending on which one is selected (choose classic) the settings may not work
- in 'item' select 'selected items' (at least I think so but it's in this list)
- and there you can choose your color
- phew

Good evening,
To confirm that under XP, it's the same maze:
Right-click on the desktop >> Properties >> Appearance >> Classic Windows Style >> Classic or Standard Colors >> Advanced >> Selected Items

It doesn't work in Excel 2007. It works perfectly in Open Office but not in Excel 2007.
P.S.: I couldn't find the "menu bar" in Excel 2007 that could contain tools...
I'm doing a little screenshot, I've used the purple color as mentioned earlier...

Hello Archeus,
The configuration of the grid color, for example, is done from Excel's options.
But the configuration of the color of the selected cells in Excel is done from Windows. You can choose the background color and the font by following the path I posted in post 5, since you are using Windows XP (commands are slightly different from Vista).

Good evening,
did you go to the Windows control panel?
because your answer is ambiguous Ps: I didn't find the "menu bar" in Excel 2007 that could contain tools...

Hi,
The trick I gave you is indeed for changing the selection color of cells in Excel on Windows.
The scattered colored cells in your screenshot confuse me; can you confirm that it’s because you made a non-contiguous selection of the cells?
And did you follow the steps in post 5?
If yes, that would mean the modification was indeed accepted by Open and not in Excel?
That will help us move forward...

Whether the selection is continuous or discontinuous, I have the same color.
The setting has been applied in all the software including Open, but it does not work with Office 2007.
Eriic, your manipulation was very clear. "I did not find the bar of [...] "corresponded to the messages from jfqld.

Hello
To join Archeus01, let me clear up a doubt, Eric and Argi:
The manipulation you recommend and that I have already applied a few times changes the selection color in drop-down menus, but I have never noticed any change in the selection color of Excel cells on my part.?
I would really like to see that, so I'm all ears.
Best regards and have a good weekend everyone.

Hello Vaucluse,
Stop, you've got me doubting now... :-)
So I just double-checked: yes, that's right, it works on Excel 2003.
It's indeed 'selected items', you need to change 'color 1', click 'ok' in the box (which then closes), and then 'apply' in the previous box. And it's only visible on a multiple selection.
It was m@rina who gave this answer which cannot be invented or guessed ;-)
Have a good evening

Hello
Exactly Eric, but I hadn't realized that indeed, the color changes, but the shade remains very light (under Vista) and far from the requested color and that of the folder selections..
I had to try red on blue to see the result.!
A shorter path under Vista to reach the manipulation window:
Right-click on the screen, personalize, colors and window.
Have a good Sunday.

Good evening everyone,
When Vaucluse insists, he hits the mark! And he made me work a lot on a Sunday! ;-)
I just checked under XP with Excel 2003 and 2007, and it indeed works on 2003, as we knew, but nothing doing on 2007. I could have sworn I tested it with 2007 the other night while responding to Archeus, misery no! What’s curious is that Word 2007 takes the selection color chosen under Windows while Excel ignores it. So it's a mystery!
Otherwise, a few ideas: Excel does pick up the color of the "window" element, which can create a contrast when selecting and changing the gridlines. But it makes for a very colorful page…
Excel help also talks about styles that can be applied to highlight cells, which can also create a contrast. I haven't tried it, must look into it…
Then, while searching online, Excelabo offers a tip by modifying the registry like this:
“ HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Microsoft > Office12.0 > Excel > Options
Create a new DWORD value named Options6 and give it the decimal value 16 ”
http://www.excelabo.net/excel/xl07div.php (see the paragraph "Increase the contrast of the selected cell)
I tested it and the selection color goes from light blue to black! The change is quite radical but it's more visual. In the absence of other solutions...
Archeus, to access it: Start / Run / type Regedit in open and follow the path. Close and reopen Excel for it to take effect.
You can always try and go back if you don't like it by deleting the line.

Good evening everyone, I'm having the same problem with this damn 2007!! Having already done the manipulation on previous versions, I thought no problem.......... damn Vista....
Anyway, Word 2007 does take into account, on, by the way Firefox and others just as well... By the way, even the selection of the tabs in the "display settings" window has changed!!
I wanted to check a little thing, so I put an icon on my desktop, and well.... the selection color hasn't changed!!!! I'm leaning towards a Vista problem, which is almost impossible to configure!!

For my part, I tried to work around the issue (with XP and Excel 2007):
- ctrl A twice to select everything
- right-click
- cell format >> fill
- background color "white" instead of "no color"
- pattern color "white"
- pattern style "white"
- cell format >> border
- line color "gray" (the 3rd one)
